7. Favorite actor of the year?

I think Kelly Reilly. I'm obsessed with her performance as Beth in Yellowstone, she's so magnetic and alluring and interesting and sexy. Love the way she speaks. She's the only reason I kept watching the show.

I had a hard time deciding what photo to reply with but I've landed on this one, where both of the hermanos are dressed like different varieties of 1990s sitcom lesbians:

Trope: we’re undercover and have to do more than make out or we will be caught!

I absolutely love this trope and would totally write it for pretty much any and every pairing.

Like I love it when they have both been mutually pining and are convinced the other person is just pretending even though they are not .

I love it when they were both previously in denial with themselves about their feelings but suddenly they cannot avoid the truth of their bodies. 

I love it when they both know the potential between them but the situation (TM) means they “can’t” be together and this is the closest thing.

I love it when they take it way further than necessary because they just want each other that much.  

Literally give me every version of it.

F: Share a snippet from one of your favoritedialogue scenes you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.

As I’ve said many times, dialogue is my favorite thing to write, and Firefly was a joy to write dialogue for. This bit from Faith Based Initiative always cracks me up and it sounds like it could have come from an episode:

"Captain, I would do anything for this ship, but when my day comes, I refuse to stand before the Almighty and answer as to why I'd beat up some little sisters of the cloth."

"Never took you for a believer before, Wash."

"Never said I was, but it doesn't pay to take chances. I know how I feel whenever someone shoots at my bride; can't imagine God don't feel the same 'bout his."

Mal looks at Zoe, who shrugs. "Man's got a point, Cap'n. He really don't like it when people shoot at me."

Wash is still talking. "Why exactly does little Sister Rose of Sharon have a black eye, the Lord'll say, and I'll say, sir, I don't rightly recall, and he'll know me for the liar I am, and cast me into the fiery pits of hell. I don't know if you know this, Mal, but I'm a fair-skinned man. And I don't like pain. I would not do well in the fiery pits of hell. The sunburn alone would be murder."

I: Do you have a guilty pleasure in fic (readingor writing)?

I try not to have guilty pleasures, but if I can work a terrible pun into a story - if it it fits the moment and the character - it gives me a lot of gleeful pleasure.

S: Any fandom tropes you can’t resist?

There’s only one bed! Fake dating! Marriage of convenience! We have to get out of these wet clothes! If you could put them all in one story, it’d be heaven.

5) character you were most surprised to end up writing

If we’re going with SW, I haven’t written much outside of Kylo/Rey. I guess an MMA fighter fem!Kylo was a (pleasant) surprise. Outside of SW, I wrote a fic for Once Upon a Time from Granny’s pov and I adore her. She’s got a soft place in my heart.

15) why did you start writing?

If I had to trace it back, I’d say it has something to do with being an only child. Having conversations with myself. Making up stories. The usual. I didn’t even learn about fanfic until high school, and it really took off after that because I shared my stories with irl friends who loved them, and then later with the internet.

25) copy/paste a few sentences or a short paragraph that you’re particularly proud of

From the first SW fic I ever wrote:

. . .because his mother comes and goes, diplomacy dictating her life more than motherhood;. . .because his father is always off on another hair-brained trade deal (whose illegal nature he’ll come to understand later).

How he’s alone, again, when his childhood terror reappears. But, because he’s older now, and since there’s no one else, Ben asks, “Who are you?”

Which prompts the eyes to smile, though the thin lips don’t respond in kind. “I knew your grandfather.”

How a sentence full of promise is the sweetest candy.

8, favorite trope to write: that thing where two people click in a way that’s like, fundamental, primal and weird. like, they just vibe super hard. ESPECIALLY + 100% if its people who don’t have much in common on the surface. good shit

30, favorite line you’ve ever written: “Something was clawing its way up her throat, but it wasn't fear this time.” this is the second-to-last is from my (published!) short monster-romance story Darker Than That and makes zero sense out of context. (hey if anyone wants a free copy of the anthology i have one literally just lying around)

my other favorite line would probably be “’Dude,’ Robert widens his eyes at you, and for a second he looks young and carefree. You wonder if that's how he looked twenty years ago, ‘so much.’” from my dream daddy fic Heard You Were a Wild One. this one also doesn’t make much sense out of context. it’s possible i do too much setup on my good lines

44, best piece of feedback you’ve ever gotten: “Your writing style is great; evocative and so very smooth.” still preen a little whenever i think about this

4, do you have writing habits or rituals: HA I WISH. but i do often go to my favorite cafe when I REALLY want to get some work done. apart from that, my writing discipline has been horrible lately 

6, favorite character you’ve ever created: i actually do love all my children more or less equally, but i’m very fond of Natalie Straightman, one of my oldest OCs. a transwoman mercenary from a dystopian superhero story which i will write SOME DAY. also atm very into one Captain James Rouach (pronounced roh-SH, not roach), the semi-psycho twunk anti-villain of the sci-fi political thriller i’m outlining for nano. he’s sleeping with the protagonists dad, and its actually the catalyst for the entire plot

Oh actually i’ve got a cool line about him i could have used for the fave line thing. “Smart, aggressive, has enough natural charisma to kill a blue whale.”

11, describe your writing process from start to finish: Step 1) get inspired from something completely random. Like a throwaway line in an article about something unrelated, a snatch of overheard conversation, a movie trailer, a dream, a piece of street art. Step 2) immediately whip out phone and start writing down bits of scenes/dialogue. Often I’ll get about a thousand/ two thousand words down right away doing this. I’ll later figure out a time line by kinda putting these snippets in a loose chronological order. Step 3) OUTLINE AND TAKE FOREVER ABOUT IT. Step 4) WRITE FIRST DRAFT AND TAKE FOREVER ABOUT IT. Step 5) read through first draft like three times and make heavy edits. Step 6) send it to beta. Step 7) one last read through. Step 8) Publish!!! Don’t let anyone tell you writing isn’t a lot of work

51, describe the aesthetic of one of your storied in five words: Imma do Darker Than That, because its a story with a particular Mood, or rather two contrasting moods. Tense, Claustrophobic, Eery, Warm, Caring.
