No spoilers because I’m not done with Call Down the Hawk but Lindenmere is in the Blue Ridge Mountains and now I’m imagining the Foxes cabin after Baltimore being at the edge of this magical forest
Just so we’re clear when I say cabeswater vs lindenmere I specifically mean this and I also mean horror movie twins

am i understanding the cabeswater & greywaren logistics correctly... greywaren is the forest/being that ronan is made of. cabeswater is greywaren's buddy that baby ronan made into a forest. cabeswater ended up becoming ronan's buddy gansey's life force. is lindenmere the same type of being as greywaren too...
"He regarded her with unimpressed silence. He had a judgemental silence that said far more than words. This particular silence conveyed that he thought it was stupid that she was blustering when he was earnest, don't fucking waste his time."

sometimes grief about persephone overwhelms blue and most of the time, it’s gansey’s arms that are her favourite place to curl up and hide from that seemingly depthless sadness.
but the other times, the times when it’s not sadness, but rage, that overcomes her, it’s ronan who she goes to.
the first time, she’s so blinded with fury at the injustice of it that she drives to lindenmere, knowing nothing but that she needs the calming presence of the trees. when she gets there, she finds ronan, so quickly it’s like the forest knew what she needed. at first, she almost leaves; she’s not sure she wanted company, not sure she’s fit for company. but ronan sees her and he knows, he recognises that rage; has let it seduce him with drunken, bloodied, gasoline soaked promises of escape more times than he can count in the years since his father died. ronan sees her and he knows he cannot let that happen to blue; she’s family, after all, and he would do anything to protect his family. so he does the best thing he can think of, the one thing guaranteed to make sure she doesn’t just repress that anger: he deliberately pisses her off. he makes stupid statement after stupid statement about the environment, about feminism, about anything he knows she cares about, until she’s almost screaming at him, tiny but no less fearsome for it. then, when she’s almost panting from the exertion, he shuts up and simply opens his arms (he’s not really a hugger but for this he’ll make an exception because he knows what it’s like to need to feel like the walls are still there even when the floor has dropped out from under you). she cries into his shirt, and when she’s done they lie side by side in silence on the grass while he thinks into existence those blue petals, flocks of tropical birds, a tiny flying orange camaro - anything to make her smile. and by the time she gets up to go, she is smiling again, and he’s relieved, though of course he covers that by ruffling her hair and saying “better buy me a new shirt, sargent.” blue just rolls her eyes and goes home, but the next time she sees him she does actually give him a new(ish) t-shirt; black, of course, but she’s painted a web of white vines and blue lilies onto it. after that, ronan makes (even more of) a habit of being in the forest, resolves to answer his phone should it be blue that calls, just so she doesn’t have to be alone the next time grief surprises her.
Hi Aurum. Sorry I’ve accidentally ghosted you, I’ve basically been in survival mode. A lots been going on, very stressful things, but I’m not gonna dump on you. I hope you are well, I hope you get to see some pretty clouds and listen to some good music, and sleep warm and well.
I’m leaving you with some rodansey thoughts, wow it’s been a little while.
I’ve been really thinking about them walking through lindenmere. A lot about Gansey stepping over a long that Ronan and Adam have already walked over, and Adam holding out his hand to help Gansey up and over, and it’s very new in their relationship, so Gansey hesitates for a second, but he takes Adam’s hand and when he does, Adam doesn’t let go for the rest of their walk. Ronan smiling softly to himself, and showing them new things. When they pause, Adam wraps his arm around Ronan’s waist, and he leans into him. Just. Soft walks through a magic forest.
I have this headcanon that Gansey grows his hair out for awhile, not too long, a bit passed chin length, but Ronan and Adam start wearing hair ties on their wrists, and if he gets frustrated and starts blowing it out of his face they get to the point that they don’t even look up as they take it off their wrist and hand it too him.
Half of their relationship consists of two of them teaming up to make the other laugh.
Gansey will randomly come up to Ronan and Adam and hand them cool rocks he has found. They sit in rows in the windowsills in the livingroom and kitchen. They can’t bare to get ride of any of them.
Goodnight! Love you! Have some nice coffee or tea tomorrow.

Like this post!! You just combined two of my favorite things - Rodansey and Lindenmere. I have so much love for Ronan's dreamt forests, and nothing makes me happier than the boys existing in that space, feeling the magic and making magic with each other. Also, Gansey getting unruly wavy dark hair that needs hair ties? [clutches my pearls] I want to hang out in this set of imagery for a while... sun-warmed afternoons in Lindenmere, exploring or picnicking, collecting things to bring home to the Barns. Sometimes, they know that they've only been in there for an afternoon, but the time shifts so it can feel like a whole day, drawing out the time they can spend away from the real world. This they know is something that really brings Ronan peace and soothes the wild ache in Gansey's chest for magic and trees, and Adam feels connected and whole with them and the forest.
Thank you so much for this, Ronsey Anon! I'm sending you love and hope things become gentler for you soon!
I've seen lots of theories floating around that Ronan is a dreamed-to-earth entity like Cabeswater or Lindenmere. Hence he's special, powerful, more dependent on ley energy. but re-reading The Dream Thieves, I don't think Niall necessarily knew Ronan was different. I know he's the one who boasted of the Greywaren's existence, but hear me out.
Niall refers to him as a thief, in the sense of being able to steal from Cabeswater (p370). he seems to expect Ronan to treat the energy like Kavinsky does. later in the book, Opal tells Ronan "you are the only one. many thieves, one Greywaren."
so maybe Niall didn't know what Ronan truly was. or maybe Niall just couldn't imagine a life caring for/protecting something, and Ronan & Cabeswater's reciprocal relationship is what makes the Greywaren special, what creates a Greywaren as distinct from a thief.
