Man linguistic drift is so cool, blows my mind that Humans somehow created the concept of LANGUAGE and managed to embody so much MEANING into simple sounds. Not just the definition of a word, but it's concept, social connotations, poetic links- Humans did that. Even making yourself sit still and comprehend the concept of what language is and is capable off is mind blowing, and we've created so many different ones and still somehow managed to link them together and translate the new sounds back into their concept, then back into a word made of entirely different sounds that mean something similar, all to allow for EVEN MORE COMMUNICATION OF COMPLEX IDEAS AND THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS, bridging the gaps between the semantic difference each word had and finding a common theme, or even completely reversing the process and finding completely different sounds that should not match according to their concrete definition, but retaining semantic meaning of the original phrase none the less, to better convey the emotional or social meaning via the translation!
Humans did that, WE STILL do that. Sus is, at it's simplest point, a shorted version of the word suspicious created to allowed for faster communication in a video game where it was commonly used. But it has its own semantic meaning separate from its parent! Sus is used to convey suspicion in a lower intensity setting, with lower stakes, and is less accusatory, instead acting as an observation. The undertones in how we use the two terms has created a separation in the concept of the word suspicious itself, further refined to better suit the time and situation in which it is used!
We do that. All the time. Someone people have a favorite word, and can color it's meaning for themselves, can add to its semantics and aesthetics without anyone else knowing, or even spread the new changes, and somehow impact an entire language!
Humans are awesome, and language is beautiful O_O
