So wholesome right? Li Jing wants to be a grandad, Nezha is a panicked but excited father, and things couldn’t go wrong. Nezha won’t make the same mistakes his father made, right?
He doesn’t. But he does make different ones.
Li Jing LOVES Baby Qing in the same way Encanto’s Abuela loved Isabella. Qing is not only NAMED after Jing, but as he grows, the resemblance is uncanny. The few things Qing actually gets from his ‘mama’ are is face shape (chubby) and his short stature. Everything else? All Jing.
And Nezha loves his son. He does. But he just… can’t help but to feel sad sometimes. He sees the way Jing interacts with Qing, and just feels overwhelmingly sad and angry and hurt. He’s jealous, weather or not he realizes it, and that kind of taints some of their interactions.
Nezha would never hurt Qing intentionally. He never lays a hand on him. But he is a lot harder on Qing then he is any future siblings Qing has. It’s waved away as Qing being the oldest. But as Qing gets older, he notices.
It doesn’t help that Jing, despite how far he’s come, still has a long way to go. Remember encanto’s Abuela and Isabella situation? That’s what ends up happening.
Qing is Jing’s favorite, and that is not a good thing.
