a/n: im so much better at writing fluff stories than other stuff :), also I know the title is so corny but its adorable
contents: all fluff, zero angst, literally adorable?
synopsis: it's raining, classes are canceled, and you're bored out of your mind and stuck with your favorite grumpy boy.
It started with the rain.
Like, the rude kind of rain--the kind that taps aggressively against the windows like it's got something to say. It had been going on all morning, which meant no training, no classes, no anything really...except you, stuck inside with a certain broody sorcerer who had been sitting on the couch with the exact same expression for like, two hours straight.
You glance over at Megumi. He had his usual slouchy posture, hoodie sleeves half covering his hands, eyes glued to some boring book he'd already read a million times. You swear you saw a cobweb growing between his eyebrows from how serious he looked.
"Okay," you said, flinging yourself onto the armrest beside him. "Were doing something."
His eyes didn't move from the page. "We are doing something."
"Megumi, I love you, but we're literally decaying in real-time."
That got him. He blinked slowly, finally glancing at you with the most unimpressed expression known to mankind. "What do you suggest? Running laps in the rain?"
"Nope," you said with a grin, hopping up. "We're baking."
"...No."
"Yes."
"I don't know how."
"That's the fun part!"
Before he could protest again, you had already yanked him off the couch by the hand (he didn't resist that much, thank you very much), dragged him into the little kitchen space, and proudly presented two aprons like you were handing out swords before a battle.
One was plain black. The other was covered in tiny dancing cats.
You held the cat one out to him with both hands.
"Absolutely not."
"Megumi."
He stared at it. You stared at him.
One long sigh later, he was wearing the cat apron. Victory tasted sweet.
“Okay, so,” you said, tying your own apron and tossing your hair up into a ponytail. “We’re making cookies. Easy. Classic. Foolproof.”
Megumi raised an eyebrow. “You’ve never baked cookies in your life.”
“Correct. But how hard can it be?”
Spoiler alert: it was very hard.
The recipe you pulled up on your phone looked simple enough. Butter, sugar, flour, eggs, something called “cream of tartar” (which you did not have and promptly ignored), and chocolate chips. Easy. You and Megumi started measuring things out—well, you started, and Megumi stood there like a reluctant lab assistant who was just waiting for something to explode.
“Is this enough flour?” you asked, holding up a very heaping cup.
“That’s… probably too much.”
“Cool, noted,” you said, and dumped it in anyway.
He watched in quiet horror.
Five minutes in, you were already covered in flour and giggling at your own mess. Ten minutes in, Megumi had smudges of butter on his cheek and somehow powdered sugar in his hair. You don’t even remember when that happened.
“Megumi,” you said, trying to stir the dough that was now way too thick and sticky, “I think we may have created a cursed object.”
He peered into the bowl with a scowl. “You definitely forgot the sugar.”
“Did not!”
“You put in salt.”
A pause.
“Oh my god, I did.”
He didn’t say “I told you so,” but the look on his face absolutely screamed it.
You laughed, leaning over the counter, wiping your forehead dramatically. “Okay, okay—we’ll fix it. I can fix him.”
“That dough is beyond saving,” he muttered, but he still grabbed another bowl.
The second batch went better. Slightly. You added too many chocolate chips, but Megumi didn’t complain. In fact, when he thought you weren’t looking, he snuck a few from the bowl and popped them in his mouth. You saw it. You just didn’t say anything because—honestly? He was kind of adorable when he thought he was being sneaky.
At some point, you accidentally flicked flour at him. It was innocent. Barely anything. Just a little boop on the nose.
He paused. Slowly looked at you.
“…Did you just start something?”
“What? Me?” you said innocently. “Never.”
Then he launched a full handful of flour at you.
“Megumi!”
Suddenly it was war. There was laughing, shrieking, slipping on the tile floor. You managed to get a streak of dough in his hair. He smeared butter across your cheek. It was chaos. It was stupid. It was perfect.
Eventually, breathless and coated in a layer of sugar and regret, you collapsed against the counter, laughing so hard your sides hurt. Megumi stood there, flushed and trying not to smile, but failing miserably.
“You’re a menace,” he told you, brushing flour off your shoulder.
“You love it,” you replied.
He didn’t answer.
Instead, he looked at you, really looked at you, and there was this soft, flickery thing in his eyes that made your heart stutter. He reached out—gently, carefully—and wiped a smudge of flour from your cheek with his thumb. His fingers lingered for just a second too long.
And then—
“I think we burned the cookies.”
You both turned. Smoke was curling out of the oven like something from a horror movie.
“Oh no.”
Megumi sighed. “We should’ve just ordered takeout.”
You grinned and nudged his side. “Yeah, but where’s the romance in that?”
is anyone else’s like FAVORITE part of this kink the blesses??? (+pet names)
i feel like its just so sweet and tender😭
someone noticing that their partner just lost control of their tiny little nose and feels the need to let them know theyre okay, and here to offer a soft tissue if needed🥲
