Rare version of Crazy on You reappeared on YouTube.
Let's ignore the poor video quality and just admire the pure sound coming out of this band in its earliest stages. Ann comes in singing so smoothly that it's almost impossible to distinguish from the studio version, aside from subtle phrasing differences -then comes in power screaming on the second prechorus. And the way she delivered the descending howl of “...kept me alive with your sweet flowing love” here isn't her most gritty and hardcore version, or her longest holding of it, but it has this incredible power with a smoothness that seems otherworldly. Possibly her best.
And then there's Nancy. The way she completely attacks the guitar right from the beginning, not to mention the kick coming back from the guitar solo. It's a shame her intro isn't a part of this version -perhaps a limited set time where she couldn't fit it in, or just limited recording time so it wasn't shown.
Roger's extension to the beginning of the electric solo is really good too. Not all over the place like he sometimes is. It's not as wild without having a bunch of fast licks like he sometimes did, but the long held notes are cutting in their own way.
