Three things you can do to help orangutans on World Orangutan Day. There are a couple apps you can use while shopping to make sure a product doesn’t contain palm oil. One is called Palm Oil and the other is called PalmSmart - I know they are available in the App Store on iPhones and iPads and I presume they’re also on GooglePlay on your Android device. . This is a #repost from @tiffany.ruocco via @PhotoAroundApp Today is World Orangutan Day! In addition to the steps in this image (taken from the web) that you can do to help the Orangutan is to be diligent in making sure none of your skin, body and hair care items contain Palm Oil. The harvesting of Palm Oil takes away vital habitat for these beautiful creatures AND kills them from the smoke and fires that are part of the harvesting process. Palm Oil and it’s subsidiary materials are commonly found in soaps, lotions, hair care products and makeup. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS ‘SUSTAINABLE PALM OIL’. Do your research. There was/is an organization that supposedly was convened to regulate “sustainable” practices for the production of Palm Oil and they were found guilty of fraud in 2017. So to answer the question I get a lot - NO, there is no such thing as sustainable Palm Oil. It is almost impossible to track and trace where it is coming from so I simply don’t use it. That’s how my products stay CRUELTY-FREE! Palm Oil production isn’t just cruel to the animals that live in their habitat, it is also cruel to the environment.
