It’s #throwbackthursday so I wanted to share one of my very first Rainbow Children. 🌈👧This time in 2012 I debuted my rainbow girls at Tara McPherson’s gallery @thecottoncandymachine and man oh man was I nervous back then! 😲Some of you may not know but it’s thanks to @Taramcpherson that I got the courage to throw my artistic playbook out and start a new theme. I’d fallen into a creative rut in 2010 and didn’t like that I’d been pigeonholed into painting big eyed girls with animals. As much as I loved them I wanted to try something new, something wild and completely different. ☺Tara told me to paint whatever I wanted for the show, so I did. And out poured these floating ethereal girls that had melting colors and rainbow themes. 🌈💗I was so nervous my collectors and fans wouldn’t like this new direction but I had to be true to my heart and create these girls and trust in my own artistic vision. It’s an important lesson that I’ll never forget and that I’d like to pass on to you. Art should come from the heart and soul. 💖Even if that art changes it’s an evolution and necessary. So I’m glad I took a leap back in 2012 with "Strawberry Whispers" and her sisters. I hope you do to! 😊#ArtEvolution #LiveToCreate (at Vancouver, British Columbia)
