The world now seems calm,the tireless man has now taken a rest in his shed.. With a hope of seeing tomorrow's new dawn..

Choosing Me

Necessity made my choices for me for so long that I never really knew how to answer the question what do you want? It never mattered. Necessity made me a college drop out. Necessity made me work two jobs and learn to only snack and nap. Necessity made me a retail store manager. A flicker of want and a supportive spouse enabled me to get my associate’s degree. Then Necessity barged back in and a career I didn’t want fell into my lap. I was taught to accept gifts and say thank you. Necessity made me put on a face, tucking the me I barely knew behind the false smile of a training facilitator. Then that compressed flicker of want burst into flames, my spouse’s own light paving a path. I quit my job and chose me. Amber, the writer. I’m beginning to love her.

Me quedé suspendida en el tiempo

no se explicar esta emoción

intento en vano, componer un verso

pero mi mente, no comprende esta ilusión.

Han pasado tantas lunas nuevas

desde aquel día, que sembré mi bienestar

y hoy, he visto germinar la semilla

en esa calida sonrisa

repleta de timidez, y espontaneidad.

eres una parte de mi
