I been  googling for the last two hours answers on who Elena ends up with in the book and it is driving me crazy

Some says LJ Smith got fired because she wanted DELENA to be end game but the publishing company wanted STELENA. Or something about her wanting to write more DELENA but not necessarily knowing who will she ends up with

Then I read Elena ends up with Damon in  the books written by ghost writers but fired LJ Smith because she wanted to write more DELENA, but they end up together anyways

Then I read Elena ends up with Stefan with the books written by the ghost writers

I am so confuse
