Lost Light 18 was a rollercoaster of emotions and I don't know what to feel or think...

I read Lost Light 18 last night and poor Drift! He’s going to have an existential crisis! The Cybertronian religion isn't even real and seeing it exposed shook me.

just made myself upset thinking about how the afterspark is clearly just trying to give people whatever will make them happy, or at least something in that vein, and if this is the case then why is chromedome in a poly relationship with the mech who was inadvertently the cause of so much of his self esteem issues?? why would being with dominus in any capacity make chromedome happiest?? there are so many issues they would have to work out first, it just seems so unrealistic for it to happen so quickly, and so i would like to pitch --

chromedome is happiest like this because he knows rewind, both rewinds, are happiest like this. they finally have the best of both worlds and don't have to worry about either of the people they love dying/leaving/whatever, and for chromedome to see that, and to see that rewind 1 forgives him for what happened, well...that's got to be the thing that's making him happy. and if that means pushing aside his own feelings about dominus and how upset chromedome was forever abt him, then so be it.

if they all end up ascending or whatever then i'd genuinely believe that chromedome is one of the most selfless fucking people on that ship bc all of his happiness in death came from seeing that the person he loves is happy. and if they DON'T, then i'd definitely believe it's because chromedome isn't really 100% content with this set up bc of all the previous emotional baggage, in which case he and rewind are going to need to have a long talk abt things...but i guess we'll see!!!
