LN7 SPOILERS

Maomao tells herself in LN6 that she wants her relationship with Jinshi to remain professional like she isn’t the one who makes nearly all the work related meetings with Jinshi in LN5 and LN7 personal.

LN5

1. When they finish talking about the books which might help them deal with possible locustus invasion she is the one who tells Jinshi:

“I’ll prepare a bedroom immediately. I want you to sleep.”

Maomao puts him to bed. Sings him a lullaby because he looks at her with “puppy-dog eyes”. She feeds him to bowls of congee when he wakes up.

2. The second time Jinshi comes she decides to play a prank on him by making him believe she’s going to feed him grasshoppers.

3. When Jinshi comes to her room to ask her to wash his face and redo his make up she strokes his hair and puts make up on her face to make him laugh.

LN7

When she arrives at Jinshi’s palace to discuss about the Shrine Maiden alongside her father and others she decides to stay after the meeting to make sure Jinshi sleeps because he looked tired.

LN6 Spoilers

The La clan are such a funny bunch. Lahan’s brother is screaming at Lahan to leave because he betrayed them. Maomao is like, “This is stupid, let me sneak around.” Lahan’s brother catches her and asks, “Who the hell are you anyway?!”, which creates a back-and-forth between her and Lahan because she, of course, doesn’t agree that she’s his sister.

Meanwhile, Junjie, Lahan’s actual brother, is seriously asking him if this random girl is really his sister. After that, Maomao and Lahan start making fun of him, but they’re interrupted by mama and grandpa Kan, who think they came for Lakan, whom they kidnapped. So they decide to kidnap Lahan and Maomao too.

Lahan and Maomao talk about their situation and come to the conclusion that they can be left to sleep in the same room because nothing weird would happen, while also being shocked that this situation even came about. Of course, this prompts Lahan to ask Maomao if she and Jinshi did the hanky panky.

When they wake up and grandpa Kan is there, Maomao thinks he’s looking at her like that because she might have eye goobers. They all make Lakan return to normal by letting him play Go by himself, and when his father asks for the family jewels, Lakan thinks they’re an annoying Go stone. While Grandpa Kan is throwing objects in Lakan’s direction, Maomao is bowing at Fengxian’s hair.

When grandpa Kan takes out a sword, Lahan’s dad comes to the rescue. Finally, when Grandpa Kan insults Luomen, Maomao drops food on his head, which results in him slapping her.

Best family in TAD if you ask me.

One funny thing about Lishu and Basen is how their interactions feel like something out of a fairy tale.

Basen is the knight in shining armor who saves Lishu—the damsel in distress—from bandits, a beast (the lion), and a witch in a tower (the White Lady).

We already got hints in volume 6 that there’s more to Rikuson than meets the eye. When Jinshi sees the villa where the bride’s family lives, he wonders whether it was left behind by the Yi clan. So, Rikuson saying “Oh, I would never have fit in at that household” seems to indicate that Jinshi was right.
