Captain Canary - "I'm not going anywhere."
(Sifting through prompts YEARS later- oops. But I'm in the S6 AU sandbox @firesoulstuff and I created with Future Rory)
The list of things Sara Lance had experienced was not for those with extreme empathy. Survived not one, but two shipwrecks. Spent her early adulthood in the League of Assassins. Died at two different points, one for longer than a few minutes. Kidnapped by Thanagarians was just another line on that list.
Being kidnapped and ending up galaxies away was one thing. It was a whole different thing being separated from Rory. Sara had fought tooth and nail to get out of the cell she'd been locked in, but every escape attempt failed. The next phase of her plan had been to take a few weeks to build up strength and make a break for it. Get out, find her daughter, and get home.
However, her team beat her to it.
The first person she saw was Behrad when her cell door opened. She heard him coming and nearly strangled him with the strip of her pants that she'd fashioned to serve as a makeshift garrote. Only when she realized he wasn't a Thanagarian guard did she let go.
"How?" Sara asked as the younger man coughed a few times. "Where is everyone else?"
"Distraction duty," called a familiar voice.
Sara looked up to see Leonard quickly moving into the room, the way he moved when time was of the essence. It had been at least weeks since she'd last seen him, and no telling how long it had been for him. But the way he walked over quickly to her made it evident it had been some time.
He practically fell against her, arms wrapping around her like he was expecting her to dissolve into mist.
Sara leaned her head against his chest. "I'm not going anywhere. It's me."
"I know," Leonard, never publicly touchy-feely, held on. He sounded so relieved. "I'm sorry it took so long to find you."
"They took Rory," she choked out. "I don't know if she's here."
Leonard's chin pressed against her forehead. "The others are checking right now."
"I didn't even get to say good-bye. I don't know where she is."
She felt him nod again. "We'll figure it out. She's sure of it."
His wording made her look up. "You found her?"
"In a way," Behrad interrupted. "But not this one. And we gotta move."
Leonard looked from him to her and slowly let her go. "You ready to go?"
"I've been ready since the day they took me from Earth," Sara slung her makeshift garrote over her shoulder. "Get me out of here."
