Just a little update
I am currently in self-isolation because someone in my household has tested positive for corona virus. It will definitely be hard having to stay in my room for 2 weeks with no social interaction, but the important thing is everyone stays healthy and the virus doesn’t get spread around more.
At least I have this lovely view to keep me sane (although looking at it does make me wish I could be out there)!

I almost exclusively reblog rather than make original posts, but it’s possible I might be making some more personal posts here over the next few weeks. I work for my municipal government (lil’ town really, pop ~7k) and now I’m helping coordinate local pandemic response. It’s stressful and a lot of it is scary and disheartening. I live in Mississippi so you can imagine that the helpfulness of the government is, you know, not. I run my department’s social media pages so both those and my personal facebook have turned into a slog of being purely professional, only posting factual and vetted info, putting out misinformation brushfires all over the place, trying to help and constantly worrying that I might have said something even slightly wrong.
So yeah, I don’t have any other outlets to speak of so I may make personal posts here a bit. I’ll put them under readmores and tag thoroughly so you can filter them. I don’t have that many followers or mutuals, so hopefully it won’t be bothersome.
Day 1 of the lock down in the UK:
I saw several groups of people who were obviously not all of one household doing exactly what they were not meant to be doing - sitting or walking in the park close together, purely socialising.
I also saw a man with about 20 bouquets of flowers in his boot. He was leaving them on the doorsteps of vulnerable neighbours, knocking on the door, and then standing back for them to accept the flowers and asking them if they needed any help.
AND I FINALLY MANAGED TO BUY SOME FUCKING BREAD
It has been a mixed day so far.

does anyone remember lockdown and the animals returning and the fumes finally being lifted off cities as air quality improved

Me: well there's a lot of people and I don't want to get sick nor do I want to get you sick from all the shit I get on the subway every day (formal you)
VA: But it prevents me from seeing your pretty smile* and your brain from being properly oxygenated!

Me: oh don't worry, i get plenty oxygen (immediate switch to informal you, I didn't even do it on purpose lmfao)
VA: it's illicit and deleterious
Me: if it were illicit then I wouldn't have been able to buy it in pharmacy
VA: well it's deleterious
Person next to me: what does deleterious mean?*
