will confirming he and mack are training together during the offseason. that mack is coming to boston for a "bit" (whatever that means) and will is going to vancouver for a week or so. that he's opening up, bringing mack into his childhood home, and mack is doing the same for him—

"can you tell us a little about why collin graf fit so well on your line?" "well me and will, we like to make plays and read off each other" okay macklin. okay

will talking about how special it is to play with mack and how he's up for anything as long as it's with mack and how amazing of a leader and player mack is and how mack was the only one to finish his book with him and how he'd love to go back to halifax with mack and—

will saying his favourite moment of the season was the rangers away game. you know, the game where mack scored the first hatty that he allowed himself to celebrate since the team also won, and not only won but won with will's game winning goal off a pass served up by mack

and finally, mack wearing that famous oatmeal alo quarter zip again. as always looking phenom in earth tones. observant eyes may have spotted will also wearing a lovely oatmeal ribbed little number. could be nothing of course. or....?

one of my fav will vs mackisms is that will always comes prepared with specifics. he might not tell you the specifics. but he has them. specific things he wants to work on over the summer (conditioning, defense). specific games he thinks are memorable (mack's hatty). specific training plans over the summer. etc etc

meanwhile macklin "ummm" celebrini is just out here loosey goosey pussy in the wind nary a care in the world. "which moment in the season did you find most memorable?" "uhhh idk"

"yeah i definitely had specific things i wanted to work on and improve over last summer and i think i did that." "oh what specific things?" "ummm nothing specific"

i feel like that kinda has to change tho if they’re giving mack the C next season… like mack has to bond with the other players and open up the circle a little bit more and can’t continue “us (wm) against them (everyone else)” mentality that he has now… and i don’t know if mack is ready to do that yet (he wanna be attached to will at all times)… maybe this is another reason why warso dislike will become wm isolate themselves from their teammates with occasional invites to toff and delly and once in three months catan night w the other players.

you're 100% right and i think will, at least, has clocked this. will is v v aware of how important hockey connections are (as someone who's had to build all of his own) and he's always been the one to insist that he and mack have other friends; to pull delly into their bye week golf trip; to rope toff and delly into book club shenanigans (somewhat unwillingly? given neither of them finished the book?); to be the frat president, as cat put it.

v funny/telling that when asked what he learned about leadership from the vets, will's immediately like oh how inclusive they are. yeah just so great how they involve all the guys. the whole team. this btw after 2 seasons of insisting that he and mack hang out with the whole "group of young guys" but only ever being photographed with one macklin celebrini.

mind you when mack was asked about what he learned from wearing the A he went "oh being more vocal. problem solving." so im not convinced mack has even recognised their you cant sit with us as a thing he needs to work on. will knows what needs to change but he is also a gatekeeper at heart, so.

WillMack aren’t going to say anything controversial while they’re in SanJose. They live with Pat and Jumbo who work for the organization. I think they re-sign but not long term. At some point, I think they both have the desire to go to a big market. - Toronto, Boston, LA, etc. I think they get rid of Warso and bring in someone stronger and better. He is too tied to Macklin and doesn’t do anything for anyone else (like everyone said). Long term, that’s not beneficial for Macklin. The comments he made about nobody being able to play with Macklin were inappropriate. Will also has always been C1. He’s been confident, came through, won literally everything he’s competed in aside from the Natty but that goalie was insane (also sitting in the sharks dev program doing nothing). You’re telling me that the kid who has killed it at absolutely every level is suddenly struggling this much? He went to Worlds in the summer and was excellent and then came back to San Jose and was meh. His confidence is wiped and he’s scared to shoot because he knows he’s going to be punished and embarrassed if he fucks up. And he’s the only one.

what. sry not sure which is wilder to me, suggesting that mr. tells uber drivers hes a college student and mrs. dont perceive me off the ice everrrr or ill kill myself are just dyingggg for a bigger stage to expose themselves on. or suggesting that la is a hockeytown on par with toronto or boston (esp when vanc*uver is like. right there).

anyway mack literally JUST said he loves san jose and wants to commit to san jose and put down roots in san jose like buying a house across the street from will's house that he is also going to buy in san jose bc the two of them are going to retire together here and hang their jerseys up together in the tank's rafters and house rookies together and maybe the rookies will have sleepovers so mack and will can have sleepovers too like in the good old days when they were just boys together in san jose

Will didn’t seem too enthusiastic about anything in his exit video aside from sharing Delly and Toff didn’t finish the book and Worlds, which he is not going to but obviously wants to because he lit up. I’m guessing the team told him he’s supposed to focus on training. I didn’t buy the he loves playing there line at all. I think he has things he’s really pissed about like Warso staying. He also still seems stuck on the center thing. He doesn’t seem to love wing - I know he loves Macklin and playing with Macklin so he tolerates the wing. Grier saying he’s in no hurry is more telling. I don’t think Will or Mack are pushing immediate extensions. The “open to it” line they both used…. Then Will sharing that they’re going be together this summer - likely when Macklin’s contract negotiations start. That was a power move. He’s saying Macklin’s mine and his arrangements now include me because I’m his partner, not just his teammate and I’m the one in control, he just plays hockey. He’s coming to my house in Boston for an undisclosed amount of time even though he thinks he’s going to be in Vancouver. He’s not. He’s going to meet my friends and hang out with my family - much more than I’m going to his - which will just be a week of training. I decide what we do, where we go, what he eats, where he sleeps, where he trains. Also, Will’s reaction to the 8 years. He looked like he was going to be sick lol.
