The Human Species and its Races
It is common for Human countries to stay pretty mixed. It is extraordinarily rare for a Human country to only have 1 or 2 native races to it, as most rely pretty heavily on each races magical abilities. Though, there are still a few notable Human settlements that ignore that unspoken rule.
Height Average: (male) 177 cm (5 ft 9 in)/(female) 163 cm (5 ft 4 in)
Weight Average: (male) 64 kg (142 lbs)/(female) 54 kg (120 lbs)
Physical Description: The closest to Earth humans, Nijezdian Humes tend to be taller than our average, with slightly pointed ears.
Magical Affinity: Jack of All Trades; Humes are the most adaptable of all the Human races, and that includes their magic. Though they can never be as magically strong as the other Human races, they can still heal like an Elf, hurt like an Orc, create like a Dwarf, and till like a Gnome.
They cannot, however, heal mental wounds, Ward, create shields, nor shapeshift.
Societal Placement: In nearly every Human country, Humes are the leaders, with very few exception. It is the one job that is considered Humish. However, Humes tend to be the jack of all trades in a magical and literal sense as well, no matter what type of job you're looking at, a Hume will probably be there to fill that job. They are everywhere.
Height Average: (male) 185 cm (6 ft 0 in)/(female) 180 (5 ft 10 in)
Weight Average: (male) 54 kg (119 lbs)/(female) 50 kg (110 lbs)
Physical Description: Elves tend to be a very tall, thin, and light race, with a very feminine features. They have long pointed ears that tend to either perk up for females or slightly slope down for males.
Magical Affinity: Healing; Elves are able to heal physical as well as mental wounds, the only caveat is that they must know the patient's approximant age, height, weight, sex, and race before being able to heal them. However, they still can only do so much, you can't heal a scar, after all.
Societal Placement: When you think of "Elf" most think of doctors. Healers you go to when you're sick or have a broken arm, things like that. However, many Elves stretch the term "healing" into many different things. Some become chefs (to heal the heart), priests (to heal the soul), or even scholars (to heal the mind, though most become medicine makers of sorts when they choose this profession). Anything that may have to do with taking care of the body, or mind, an Elf will most likely be a part of it.
Height Average: 195 cm (6 ft 4 in)
Weight Average: 102 kg (225 lbs)
Physical Description: The tallest of the Human races, and the one with the most muscle mass per body, both male and female Orcs have the same bone density and muscle mass. Meaning that a male and female Orc in the same weight class could fight on equal footing. Their skin comes mostly in shades of green, but in more extreme climates they can appear more yellow (deserts) or greyish-blue (arctic). All Orcs have horns protruding from their heads, most from their forehead, tusks protruding from their mouths, forked tongues, retractable claws, and what one would call "sky-light" eye colors. Gradient eye colors that usually has the name of a time of day (sunrise, mid-day, twilight, etc.).
Magical Affinity: Offensive; Their magic is able to harm a target with specific stimulus without said stimuli present (i.e. they can burn someone without needing to use fire). The stronger the caster, the more harm they can create.
Warding; When an Orc puts a ward on something (can be anything from a person, an animal, a place, an idea, or even an object) their strength multiplies nearly ten-fold as long as they are near their Ward. and if harm is perceived (not proven) by the Orc towards their Ward, they will enter into a berserker state. Which is why most Orcs do not choose to Ward anything unless absolutely necessary.
Societal Placement: The stereotypical Orcish job is usually either a bodyguard or a soldier, but like Elves, Orcs tend to spread the idea of what "protect" really means. Many of them become caregivers (working with and taking care of the young, sick, or elderly), most Orcs first jobs are actually babysitters, taking care of young children and defending them with their lives. Others use their strength to help build (or break) things. Orcs are known to be extraordinarily protective over the other races (or just anything they perceive to be weaker than them), and tend to try and take all the hard labor.
Height Average: (male) 104 cm (3 ft 5 in)/(female) 90 cm (2 ft 11 in)
Weight Average: (male) 40 kg (88 lbs)/(female) 36 kg (79 lbs)
Physical Description: The broadest Human race, dwarves tend to be quite stout and heavy for their size. They have large, slightly pointed ears, and both males and females tend to grow beards. Though, it isn't that uncommon for female Dwarves to shave, depending on the beauty standards of the country they live in.
Magical Affinity: Cognitivity; Considered to be like a trance where they understand the world around them on a near molecular level, usually connected to their specific skill (i.e. if they are an artist particular to people and animals, they can understand and replicate anatomy quite easily. Or if they are an engineer, they have quite acute spatial awareness).
Defense; They can create invisible shields, and depending on their magical skill level, it can be nigh impenetrable.
Societal Placement: Most Dwarves tend to become builders of some sort, anything that can be created (or discovered) they will be apart of. Scientist, archeologists, construction workers are all the domain of the Dwarf. They are also most likely to take the underappreciated jobs, sewage and pipe cleaners, miners, or just cleaners in general. It's not uncommon for a Dwarf to be somewhat of a clean freak.
Sadly, they and Gnomes are the most likely to become the slave class in a society. It was (and is) not uncommon for them to be the majority of enslaved people due to their magical abilities. And if they are not a slave (in countries where slavery is legal), most will treat them as second class citizens.
Height Average: 76 cm (2 ft 6 in)
Weight Average: 25 kg (55 lbs)
Physical Description: The smallest and physically weakest of the Human races, Gnomes tend to be very youthful looking, with digitigrade legs and tail that correspond with a specific animal. If the animal has more distinctive features (such as horns, cat-like eyes, extra limbs, etc.) the Gnome will gain those features. The animal is completely genetic. Male Gnomes' animal leg ends mid-shin while female Gnomes' animal leg ends mid-thigh. All Gnomes are born with heterochromatic eyes, and are able to shapeshift into their animal, being completely indistinguishable from the real animal, other than their eyes.
Magical Affinity: Cultivation; any plant or animal taken care of by a Gnome will grow completely healthy and hearty. Plants will bare more fruit, animals will grow stronger, and the earth they till will remain fertile.
Shapeshifting; All Gnomes are able to shapeshift into their animal for a short period of time. the stronger their skill, the longer they can remain shapeshifted.
Societal Placement: Farming and gardening is the way to go for most Gnomes, but there are many things you can do with exceptional crops and livestock. Some become Witches, creating potions from enchanted plants (or just normal medicine makers made from normal plants). Others become entertainers, using their trust of nature to create spectacle for the masses to enjoy.
However, as with the Dwarves, Gnomes are subject to becoming slaves at a pretty high rate. due to them being the smallest and weakest of the races (but ironically the most important) they tend to be subjugated by far the most. If slavery is legal, and a Gnome is free, it is very unlikely that they will be treated with much respect.
