I will be taking part in the #logoffprotest. For the next week, barring an act of sleepiness on my part, I will be logging off of Tumblr.
I am doing this because I believe Verizon, and therefore Tumblr, have zero interest in catering to their users. I am doing this because I cannot handle the dehumanization of women that is a part of the new Tumblr policy, given that “female presenting nipples” are being considered inherently sexual. For that matter, I am doing this because there is literally nothing wrong with sex between consenting adults, but there is a hell of a lot wrong with Nazis, yet the former is banned and the latter is implicitly encouraged. I am doing this because I still have to keep blocking porn bot followers, my posts have been taken over by porn bots, yet people’s descriptions of their mastectomy surgeries is flagged.
I am doing this because I value the body-positive experience I have been able to curate for myself on this site, and it is threatened. I am doing this because I am sick of corporations destroying the lives of people all for the sake of values I do not hold. I am doing this because yet again women and the LGBTQIA community is being marginalized, and I feel the need to try to fight back.
I am on Pillowfort, AO3, and on Twitter, and this will be a chance for me to maybe start making better use of those sites. See you on the other side.
