Turns out the horsemen of the Apocalypse now prefer to go by Shareholder Profit, Private Equity, Corporate Personhood, and Workforce Optimization.
Shareholder Profit: War (the casus belli for attacks on workers' rights)
Private Equity: Pestilence (they are parasites that voraciously strip the value out of a healthy business until it withers and dies)
Workforce Optimization: Famine (cutting hours and employees until the business is starved of staff, barely functioning)
Corporate Personhood: Death (a hollow, shambling mockery of a human with rights and needs)
It may not be that deep, but I have a shovel and I will make it as deep as I want.
High key what House of Leaves is meta about
I know not what House of Leaves is but I wholeheartedly trust your comparison and I shall take it as fact!
House of Leaves is a book about a man trying to explore the inside of his new home, which proves substantially more difficult than should be possible, due to its non-Euclidean dimensions.
Except that House of Leaves is actually about a documentary about a man trying to explore the inside of his new home, which proves impossible to document properly, due to its non-Euclidean dimensions.
Except that House of Leaves is actually about an academic paper, which itself is about an alleged documentary about an alleged non-Euclidean home, but none of this can be verified.
Except that House of Leaves is just, like, this fucking stack of papers I found in this old dead guyโs apartment, and, like, I donโt even know if its his or what because like both his eyes were gone and he didnโt have any degrees or anything. I tried asking my friend from the tattoo shop about it but she was fixing up this thumper tattoo right above a girlโs pussy the whole time we were talking; like Thumper from Bambi, and Iโm not gonna lie man I was pretty distracted and I just couldnโt [XXXXS XXXX XXXX. * Editorโs Note: House of Leaves is a metatextual examination of the ability for a minor inconsistency in measurement, which might have been ignored by a normal person, to cause an all-consuming obsession spiral in the sort of person who is academically trained, obsessed with documentation, or overtly pedantic, and-
โJohnny, please, Iโm your Mother; I know I have a lot to apologize for but I canโt, not unless you return my letters; are you even getting my letters? I send one every week you know, but I think that nurse keeps them from you, keeps you from getting my letters, because I know, I know my sweet Johnny would never leave his poor old mother rotting away by herself in this horrible drafty ward if he was getting his motherโs letters, would you, sweet boy? I know sheโs stealing my letters from you, sheโs always touching my things, even though they havenโt moved I know sheโs touching them I know she keeps you from me I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know [thereโs a limit to what you can know. Just wanna say how much I LOVE being asexual. Theres so much joy and whimsy to find in life when not worrying about the confines of relationship expectations.I literally cannot imagine myself any other way. I would not be the same person at all if I were not asexual. I understand that a lot of people accept and acknowledge their queerness while not considering it be a core part of their personality, but for me it is So Integral to how I operate as a human being that i consider it a huge part of my personality. Which is a good thing for me!! Just thinking about my asexuality and being confident in who I am brings me such euphoria. I love love love being asexual. I love that this is the way I am. I love existing sometimes it is so great 10/10 would recommend. Asexuals of the world, you are loved.

i really like that we don't actually have a proper answer for how involved and how much of simon's fault the filament station disaster (as well potentially other unrelated murders - "simon the butcher") was because it allows us to have so many interesting readings on his suffering throughout the events of the movie.
if he was responsible for those deaths, you ask yourself - is all this suffering he's going through now truly equal and deserved to whatever pain he may have given out? is it fair to die so slowly and so brutally for taking those lives? does it matter how or why he did it? does anyone deserve to suffer that much?
if he wasn't responsible and tried to put a stop to it, is it fair he then blasted his captors with radiation and sealed their fate in return, regardless if it's by mistake or not? the people who took the only man that turned in and treat him like a piece of meat to be discarded, without ever truly hearing him out? they sealed his fate, is it fair he gives back what he's received, or should he still strive to be better?
what if its somewhere in the middle? maybe he wasn't fully innocent, but didn't exactly fight to do the right thing either. maybe he was just trying to survive and happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. a bystander. don't they say doing nothing is just as bad as the crime committed? he's loyal to eden because its what he was brought up with and the only way he knows to survive. he makes the deal with the COI because he thought its the only way to survive, to have freedom. is it fair for the COI to sacrifice him in the pursuit of their own survival? a worthy sacrifice? is it fair to fight to survive no matter what? to fight for survival regardless of what that means for others?
"that's fair" he pleads in his final deal with ava. but life isn't always fair, is it.

I thought newpipe was super popular but every time I bring it up people go "wow no way!" so I'm making it's own post to recommend it if you watch youtube on your phone.
It acts as a youtube frontend, blocks ads by default, and you can listen to stuff on it and download videos for offline viewing (like youtube premium, but ya know, for free)
