Fandom: MCU movie Loki
You couldn't get comfortable no matter how hard you tried.
You'd think in a high-tech place like this, the air conditioning wouldn't break, would have failsafes or something. Wrong - the new Compound may be great, but since it's just been built there are still a few kinks to work out. Tony said he'd call his HVAC guy in the morning, but he's still locked in the lab right now, so he'll have to be reminded. JARVIS will remember.
It sucks to be exhausted and not be able to fall asleep. As you flopped about, trying to find a cool patch in the sheets, you barely registered the quiet sounds coming from your TV through the haze of sleepiness. Why couldn't the AC have broken on a cooler night?
Then a thought hit you that made you sit bolt upright.
Loki.
Of course. Why were you laying here melting when you had a literal Jotun for a friend, only a few rooms away?
Without wasting another second, you rolled off the bed and padded through your dorm on bare feet, slipping soundlessly out the door and down the hall to Loki's room.
He normally locks his door. It was odd that you found it unlocked when you got there, but you were grateful.
You walked over to his bed and took a moment to admire him like this - asleep, relaxed, happy... He looked almost younger, with no worries on his mind at the moment. Then common sense kicked in thanks to your body noticing that it was still oppressively hot, and you had the bright idea to make sure there were no knives within easy reach. You didn't want him to stab you whilst half-asleep.
Okay, I should be safe. You took a deep breath to calm yourself before slipping into the bed beside Loki.
He was still partly dreaming, you think, because he shifted closer to you. You couldn't hold back a little whine as you felt his cool body press against yours - the feeling was divine, pun intended.
That woke him. You flinched back as his body stiffened and he opened his eyes to see you beside him.
"What in Hel are you doing?" he asked in a voice that, while still thick with sleep, carried plenty of danger beneath the surface.
Brain still muddled with exhaustion and the innate need to cool down, you did something the tiny remaining rational part of you knew you'd regret.
You reached up and put a finger to his lips to shush him. "Shh... I'm dying in this heat and you're a frost giant. Put the pieces together. You got two choices - hold me to cool me down or use your magic. But you're gonna help me." As if to illustrate your point, you curled closer against him.
He looked down at you with a rather taken-aback expression on his face. "My, my, darling, a Midgardian thinks she can order one of Asgard to do her bidding, does she?" If you didn't know better, you'd say he was attempting to hold back a laugh.
"Mhm, maybe." You murmured softly. "Now make up your mind."
You felt his chest vibrate with a chuckle. "Very well." With that, his arms slipped around you, pulling you closer.
You hummed happily as he held you close, reveling in being in his arms as much as being able to cool down. It wasn't like you two'd been mutually crushing on each other for as long as Loki had been an Avenger. Nope, no way.
As you finally got comfortable enough to drift into sleep, pressed against Loki with your head on his shoulder, you felt a soft brush on your forehead that if you didn't know better, would have felt like a kiss. "Goodnight, darling," he whispered as he drifted off as well.
"Night, Lokes." You whispered back. "You make a wonderful personal ice cube."
"Thank y- I'm a what now?"
"Nevermind, Loki, go to sleep."
"Mm. G'night." he murmured against the top of your head.
Then one thought struck you like lightning before you succumbed to sleep.
You gave him the option of using his magic on you.
So why did he choose to cuddle you instead?
((if you want this continued, lemme know! I'd love to make it a series!!))
A/N: Not a request or anything. But just how I think it would be like to sleep in a little with Loki on a lazy sunday.

Cuddles
The morning light shining through the window, made the whole room brighter. But still, it was too early to get out of bed at this ungodly hour. Even though the reason for not wanting to leave the bed had nothing to do with the hour of the morning.
Turning around, you peeked through your eyelids to look at the God next to you. He was laying on his back, his chest slowly moving up and down in sync with his soft breathing, his hair was laying around his head like a crown on the pillow beneath him. The blanket came up to the half of his stomach, leaving the top two abs and his chest exposed to you. He looked at rest, he looked peaceful.
Closing the space between you, you laid your head against his upper arm. Your cheek brushed the softness of his skin and you sighed. In this moment you knew what heaven would feel like, when the day would come that you would arrive. Closing your eyes, not to fall back asleep, but to enjoy the warmth coming off of him. Enjoying the sun rising in the morning, while the birds were greeting each other. The whole world was waking up, but this moment, here in his bed, time stood still. Even if it was just for a moment. It was a moment you were determined to make last for as long as you could.
Your peaceful moment was disturbed, when Loki moved his arms. He laid on his side and moved his arm underneath your neck. You moved closer, turning your head so your face was flat against his chest. His arm underneath your neck curled down to touch your back and pull you a little more against him. His other arm laid in the curve of your waist, his hand resting on your lower back.
‘Hmm’ was all he sighed as a good morning.
‘We have to get up soon’ you half-whispered to him, disappointment clearly present in your voice.
‘Hmm’ came out a little moodier. He held you closer against him, a thing you didn’t thought was possible. ‘Five more minutes’ he whispered.
‘Five more minutes’ you answered. A lie both of you knew made no sense, but gave both of you an excuse to lay in each other’s arms before the other world would crash into yours.
Summary: sometimes all you need is a cuddle with the one you love
Warnings: fluff (who? Me? NEVER!), kissing, cuddles, short but sweet
The ball had taken a toll on your body and you were exhausted. You hadn't realised just how much you needed to get home until you slumped down on the sofa, seiðr flowing around your body to change your gown into leggings and a hoodie. You sighed in relief and heard Loki's gentle chuckle as he entered the room, removing his cufflinks and slowly settling onto the sofa beside you.
You smiled when his arm snaked around your shoulder and pulled you closer to him, allowing you to snuggle against his side as you both stared out of the window to the right of the TV set up in your living room.
"Do you ever get claustrophobic in those situations, Loki?" you asked softly, your hand comfortably resting on his chest. His gentle heartbeat comforted you as your eyes drooped closed.
"Sometimes," Loki hummed, his hand gently rubbing up and down your arm as he turned his head to look down at you in his arms, "Stark's parties are much more enjoyable than any Asgardian event we have to go to. Especially with stuck-up lords."
You huffed and nuzzled your head closer to his chest as you scoffed, "that man called himself a Lord and yet he still had the audacity to imply that I had slept my way to your heart."
"But you know it is wrong so why should he bother you, hmm?" Loki whispered as he smiled, his nails gently scraping your skin and making goosebumps raise on your skin.
You sighed and trailed your own nails down Loki's chest, fumbling with the buttons of his dress shirt as you went. You were happy just to lay like this for a while, happy to just enjoy the moments that you shared with the Prince and Avener who had wormed himself into your life.
Loki watched as your breath evened out and his smile widened, gently lifting himself from the sofa and tucking you into his arms to silently walk to the bedroom. Loki took the time to take out your hair and slowly massage your scalp to make sure that the tension from the awkward hairstyle wouldn't give you a headache in the morning. Then he changed your hoodie and leggings into one of your favourite shirts of his before laying you beneath the covers.
Walking into the bathroom, Loki looked in the mirror and smiled at the reflection that met him. The being he saw smiling back at him was someone who was loved, needed and appreciated properly by his lover and he knew that he would never give you away for any Tesseract in the Multiverse.
From your place in bed, you sighed happily and rolled over, awaiting your lover for more cuddles in your sleep.
Loki loves cuddling you — he simply adores you being in his arms, the warmth of your body near his, it’s perfect to him. He’s very touch sensitive / oriented in his love language, so it’s a perfect match.
Holding hands — when you’re sitting with your back against his chest, Loki brings his arms around you, sometimes to hold you even closer against him, to which you set your hands on top of his forearms. Other times, more often, he plays with your hands in his. He places his hands palm up, as you set your palm down atop his. From there he gently, keeping your hands together, lifts them up, twists them side to side, occasionally interlacing your fingers.
↳ sometimes he reveals his frost giant form, only allowing the blue to spread half-way to his elbow. He loves the way you gasp in awe at it, and trace the patterns on his skin gently with your fingertips.
When you’re sad — Loki is the exact person who you can say nothing to and yet he knows something’s wrong. He’ll watch you for a moment, reading your expression, before walking over to you, arms slightly lifted to the perfection position for you to fit in them. He’s ready to cradle you, resting his chin against your temple, or kissing your forehead / top of your head. He will hold you for as long as you need to be held, zero complaints.
He doesn’t mind at all if you tend to be “clingy” — he absolutely craves any kind of attention, so if you’re more of a physically “clingy” individual, he really has no problem with it. He can tell when you want more physical attention, and he gives you everything you need.
He loves when you fall asleep cuddling him — often times you don’t realise it, but you cling on to him when you’re falling asleep and you don’t let go. In fact when he starts to move, your fingertips subconsciously grip against him tighter. When he’s finally picked you up, to carry you off to bed, he loves how you snuggle yourself right against him in his arms. || He’s super attentive to you once he’s in bed beside you, since he had to let go of you to set you down, he makes up for it by keeping your super close. Which he loves, because he feels protective.
Random times — Loki has been know to just come up to you and pull you into a hug. If you’re laying down, reading / on your phone on the couch / bed, he will crawl from the end of the bed / couch up to rest his head on your stomach, wrapping his arms around your your frame, his hands caressing your back as he buries his face against your stomach. Sometimes you giggle, or squirm a little, but that only makes his smile.
Morning / Night — he 100% cuddles you in bed, in literally almost every way. He’ll let you cuddle against his back like a little backpack, he’ll tuck you against his chest, your back against his chest, head resting on his bicep, he’ll let you rest on his chest, and sometimes, he’ll find himself laying on his stomach with you sprawled out on top of his back, head between his shoulder blades.
Affection:
He shows affection in a lot of silent ways— gestures are a big thing for him. He knows your favourite flowers, your favourite music, favourite cozy sweaters, etc. So, he tends to know what will make you smile / make you feel safe, which is why he’s superior at prep / setting out things for you to find when you get home, so you don’t have to rush around and find everything.
Physical affection — it’s small things like holding your hand when you’re nervous, just to let you know he’s there if you need to lean on him in any way. || For encouragement, as your about to do something or after you’ve done something that made you a little nervous. He’ll reach his hand across the table / over to you and take your hand in his, stroking the top of your knuckles and giving an encouraging smile.
↳ he’s also been known to randomly tuck your hair behind your ear, place his hand on your thigh whilst sitting next to you, place his chin on your shoulder, and gaze into your eyes.
Magic — oh yes, he 100% brings magic into it. When you’re feeling down, sometimes he’ll subtly tap into your memories with a gentle stroke of his fingertips against your temple, bringing to mind a memory you always smile or laugh at. He does this so subtly that sometimes you don’t even realise he did it, you’ll just turn to him and say “you know I just thought of that time—“ and he completely keeps it a secret that he summoned that memory. Because in truth he just wants to hear your voice, watch your eyes light up as you tell the memory, and see you smile.
↳ likewise, if there’s something you need / want, like a blanket, he will randomly conjure it. Usually he doesn’t try to hide the fact that he brought it about, because he knows you like to watch him use his magic. But other times, like if you’ve been looking for a specific blanket all day and you’re getting frustrated that you can’t find it, he’ll conjure it whilst you’re not looking, so when you turn around it’s right there. With a sigh you pick it up and yell back so he can hear you “I found it!” / “oh wonderful, darling! Where was it?” He asks softly. / “it was right behind me, where I though I left it,” you shake your head, “but I swore I check there and didn’t see it.” / “hmm, odd,” Loki hides a smirk.
He also asks how you’re doing on the regular — Loki finds it important to keep in touch with how you’re doing mentally / emotionally so he can provide the best affection / attention for your needs. Sometimes he doesn’t realise that you see him asking as a form of affection, which makes you smile, and make him ask “what?” genuinely curious why you’re surprised and touched at him asking.
↳ emotional affection is super important to him. Being gentle with your emotions is something he is really good at, because he doesn’t want you to feel like you have to hide any emotions or feelings.
Hello! I have no patience so I decided to post again. Twice in two days is okay right? It’s fine. This is another song fic. I know that not many people like them but they relate in terms of how things progress. These fics can stand alone but also work together to form a story. This one is Show Yourself from Frozen II (sorry not sorry, I do what I want.) I do not own Frozen or it’s music. If I did, I would be way better off than I currently am, haha!
Summary: Loki and Thor get in an argument and Loki, being the drama king he is, flees to Jötenhiem. He really should have realized that His Queen would come after him.
Warnings: Nothing too serious. Its a fluffy ball of fluff.
Show Yourself
Noelle PoV:
"THOR, WHAT DID YOU DO?!" I scream as I storm my way into the throne room, not caring who was in there and what was happening.
My friends run in behind me but they have longer legs than I do and keep up easily. Fandral catches me around the waist as I struggle towards Loki's brother. The king.
The king who cowers from me as I burst into the room.
"Lady Noelle, I know you are upset-" He has his hands raised in a defensive position. Sif ushers whoever was in the throne room with Thor out, guards included.
"Upset? UPSET?! I CAN'T SEE 'UPSET' FROM WHERE I AM STANDING!" I lash out at him again but Fandral is stronger than me and contains me easily.
"Noelle, please take a breath and explain what has happened! If this is about the argument Loki and I had, it was nothing that we haven't done before, you know this."
"Yes, well, your little 'argument' has caused your brother, my fiancè, to leave Asgard. Why would he leave me if YOU HADN'T SAID SOMETHING WORSE THAN USUAL?!"
His face drains of all colour. He pauses for a moment, mouth hanging open. I channel my emotions into my magic and bust out of Fandral's grip. Before they could process my action, I had Thor held against the wall five feet up with my other arm stretched out as a warning to the others.
"Loki has taught her well." Hogan murmurs to Volstagg. I wasn't meant to hear it but that's not what I'm worried about.
"What did you say to him?" I ask angrily.
He stutters a bit and I start pushing more pressure into his chest where I hold him. If I didn't need answers, it would be his throat.
"I may have said something about how he wasn't truly the heir because of the monster beneath his skin." He whispers, tears welling a bit.
I drop him.
Sif rushes to his side and helps him sit up. "A stunt like that will get you killed, Lady Noelle. It's treason." She spits at me. I fix my gaze on her and she immediately looks away.
"What did he say to that?"
"He said 'If I am a monster, perhaps I should go back to where the monsters lurk.' I didn't think he meant it, Noelle. I'm so sorry."
I take a deep breath. "I'm not the one you should be apologizing to." And with that, I teleport to my room.
I fall into the chair next to the door, putting my head in my hands with my elbows on my knees. I try to stop the tears but everything hurts. First I lose my mother, not 4 months ago, then the only man I've ever loved.
"But he isn't lost, is he, girl." I jump at hearing a voice in my room. I look up to meet the golden eyes of Heidall. I stand and bow my head to him slightly.
"Come now, child. You know where he is. You have the ability to retrieve him. Only you can." I nod slightly, not really understanding his words.
"You will need your cloak."
I raise an eyebrow at him but move to my closet to get the dark green cloak that Loki bought for me. 'In case it is ever necessary.' He had told me. As I wrap the heavy material around my shoulders, I feel the Bifrost working around me. I squeeze my eyes shut.
The next thing I know, my hair and cloak are being whipped around by a freezing wind. I open my eyes and realize that I am in Jötenhiem. If the snow and ice don't prove that, then the thunderous winds that chill me to the bone does.
I pull my cloak closer around me and start walking towards the monstrous ice formations where I knew I would be more sheltered from the wind. As I get closer, I feel the familiar tug of my connection with Loki. I know he is close.
He knows I'm here.
"Loki?" I call out to him, not expecting an answer. "Loki, it's me. Please, come out." I wait to see if he responds. He doesn't.
I get a little impatient and very upset.” Loki, don't hide from me. You have nothing to be ashamed of! Thor is an idiot who ran his mouth but you know he was wrong, Loki. He feels bad about it. Please, come home. Come back to me." I feel him pull a little further. It feels like a bungee cord being stretched out between us.
"Please don't leave me." I whisper
The pulling stops. He stopped moving. He heard me. But he still doesn't come out. I suddenly have an idea.
“Every inch of me is trembling; But not from the cold; Something is familiar; Like a dream I can reach but not quite hold; I can sense you're here; Like a friend I've always known; I'm arriving; And it feels like I am home.” I sing in a low voice. I'm mostly trying to warm my voice enough to get louder. It's freaking cold here.
“You have always been a fortress; Cold secrets deep inside; I've had secrets, too; So you don't have to hide; Show yourself; I'm dying to see you; Show yourself; It's your turn; You are the one I've been looking for; All of my life!; Show yourself; I'm ready to learn.” I sing the scales his mother used to him to him to help him sleep. It is returned by a higher pitched version of the same scales coming from the ice formations behind me. I start walking faster towards them, no longer feeling the biting cold.
“I've never felt so certain; All your life you've been torn; But I'm here for a reason; Could you be the reason I was born?; We have always been so different; Normal rules did not apply; Is this the day?; Is this the way; We finally find out why?; Show yourself; I'm no longer trembling; Here I am; I've come so far.” I've reached the first few ice spikes. I put a hand on one of the towering spires.
“You are the answer I've waited for; All of my life; Oh, show yourself; Let me see where you are!; Come to me now; Open your door; Don't make me wait; One moment more; Oh, come to me now; Open your door; Don't make me wait; One moment more!” I slowly turn in my place, taking a few steps deeper into the cavern.
I place my hand on the wall, knowing he is close, when the wall collapses into tiny pieces at my touch. I jump away from it then turn to see there is a whole new room that the wall was hiding.
It looks like a throne room. It's long and narrow and there is an elevated platform at the end of it. That's where I spot my Loki, sitting atop the chair of ice. He looks almost like he has been waiting for me, but I can tell he didn't expect me to come find him.
“Where the north wind meets the sea.” I hear his voice. I respond with the scales. “There's a river full of memory.”
“Come my darling homeward bound;” I stretch my hand out for him to take and he stands, but doesn't move to meet me. “You are found! Show yourself; Step into your power; Grow yourself; Into something new; You are the one we've been waiting for;” I start running towards him.
“All of our lives.”
“All of our lives; Oh, show yourself!” He reaches his hand out to me.
I sing the scales a few times as I climb the steps up to him. I take his hand and pull him to me. He buries his face in the crook of my neck and I move one of my hands up and down his spine while the other combs through his hair. His arms wrap tightly around my waist and pulls me closer to his chest.
We stand in silence for a moment before I start to shiver again. Loki notices immediately and pulls me to the throne he was in when I got here. He pulls another thick blanket and cloak from thin air. He sits me in his lap and wraps the fabric around me, whatever was left, he pulled around himself.
"You should not have come here. You can't just follow me into a frozen wasteland." He tells me, dragging me impossibly closer.
I curl my fingers into the lapels of his leathers, trying my best to disappear into him. "Then you should not leave me and run away to a frozen wasteland." I reply and he chuckles, kissing my temple. "Please come home with me?"
He stiffens but doesn't let me go, probably for fear that I'll freeze. "I do not belong there."
"Don't say that. You only think that because you were raised to think Frost Giants are monsters. Loki, look at me." I put my fingers on his jaw and turn his face to look at me. "You are not a monster. You are Loki. You are my Loki. You are Frigga's son." He opens his mouth to protest but I keep talking, "Do not go there. You don't have to be blood related to be family."
"That is sort of the definition of family, love."
"Are we related by blood?"
He stops, shocked, then replies, "No. But that is not the same. I plan to make you my wife, therefore you are my family by marriage."
I sigh. "You were adopted. Frigga treated you as her son. She loved you unconditionally. No matter what happened with Odin, she made sure you were taken care of. Is that not what you have done for me? Brought me into your life, your world? Do you love me unconditionally? Make sure I'm cared for? How is this different?"
He looks away from my face, staring at the floor. I press my lips to his cheek before shuddering from the cold again. I nuzzle my face into his neck, anything to keep warm. He starts to stand and put me on my feet but I cling to him.
"Darling, you can't stay much longer. You will freeze."
"I am not leaving without you." I state stubbornly.
He sighs defeatedly before calling for Heimdall. The Bifrost surrounds us and I shut my eyes, curling closer to Loki's body. We appear back in Asgard on the platform of Heimdall's post. From there, he nods to Heimdall and teleports us to his chambers.
Still cradling me to his chest, he pulls back the covers and sets me on the bed. He crawls in next to me and pulls the blankets over us both, wrapping his arms around me.
As soon as I stop shivering, I start taking the cloaks off, but leave the sheets covering me and Loki. I snake my arms around his neck and pull him closer, as if I could keep him there with me. I knew that if he wanted to go, he would have no trouble getting up.
"On the contrary, love." He mutters in my ear, "I am rather comfortable at the moment, therefore not intending to stand in the near future."
"I suppose that means that I'm not standing either?"
He hums in affirmation and buries his face deeper into my hair. I giggle a little at the feeling of his nose rubbing the side of my neck.
I'm not sure how long we lay in the bed, wrapped up in each other. We are so close that it is hard to tell where he stops and I begin. Eventually though, we both get hungry and I leave him in the bedroom to go get some food from the dining hall. I am hesitant to leave the room in fear that he won't be there when I return but he promised me that he would be waiting for me.
I would have followed him wherever he went anyway.
"Lady Noelle!" Volstagg exclaims as I collect some food for Loki and myself.
"Hello, Volstagg."
"Did you find your Prince?"
"I did. Please send my apologies to Thor for my behavior earlier. I would do it myself but I need to return to Loki. He hasn’t eaten today."
We clasp arms and I pick up the plates I made for us. On my way back to Loki's chambers, I get an idea.
"I have had a thought!" I tell him, handing him his plate.
"A dangerous pastime."
I giggle at his reference and respond, "I know."
"What is your thought, darling?" He takes his plate from my hands and picks up some grapes.
"Let's leave Asgard."
He pauses, a piece of bread halfway to his mouth. He sets down the food and looks at me.
"What?" He looks a little shocked.
"Let's leave Asgard. You aren't happy here, you and Thor are always fighting, and whether you realize it or not, you have become increasingly more depressed. I miss Midgard, as well. Maybe we could move there? I'm happy as long as you're with me, I just thought a change of scenery might do you some good." He presses his fingers to my lips to stop my rambling.
"If you wish to go to Midgard, we will go to Migard." He says quietly.
"It's not about me, Loki. It's about you."
"I agree with you. I think that Midgard is the only other realm that is somewhat safe for both you and me, though it is not completely harmless in my case. Where would we stay?"
"When I went back to live with my mother after you died," he shutters at my mentioning it, "I met the Avengers. I worked with them, I helped them in Sokovia. They trust me."
He sneers a bit at the name. "They do not trust me."
"Tony offered me my own floor in the tower, we could live there."
"The Avengers do not like me."
"But they could learn. I could go ahead for a few days and convince them that you weren't yourself and you could join me in a week?"
He sighs, his eyes searching mine. "You think they will believe you?"
I cup his cheek, bringing his forehead to mine. "If I had a better place where you could ease into Midgard, I would suggest it, but since I haven't been on Migard in a while, I don't have enough money to get us an apartment."
He closes his eyes and nods. "We will go to Stark. But I want to come with you. I do not want to wait. We can stay at an inn until you get everything settled with him."
"You are sure that you are okay with this? Maybe if I asked Thor to tag along at first, to help us convince the team, they would be more willing."
"As you wish."
I smile and press my lips to his. He runs his fingers through my hair and holds the back of my neck to keep me in place. I drag my nails against his scalp, earning a groan from him. He wraps his arm around my waist and pulls me into his lap, the food completely forgotten.
~~~~~Le Time Skip~~~~~
"You really believe Reindeer Games has changed?" Tony asks me with hesitation.
"It's not that he has changed. It's like he went back to who he truly is. He was under Thanos' control when he attacked New York." I say.
"How do we know that you aren't under his control?" Bucky questions. I turn and look him in the eyes.
"You know me better than most everyone else, Buck. Am I acting like I am under his control?"
"She is acting of her own free will." I hear the slightly Russian accent of Wanda say from behind me. I spin around just as the glimmer of her red magic disappears. "I would sense his presence if he was there."
"See? It's fine. Please just give him a chance? He wants to prove himself." I take Tony's hand, pleading with him.
"Out of curiosity, why are you so set on this?" Steve asks me. The others murmur around me. Shit.
"I just. He is my best friend and he hates being in Asgard. His other option is Jötenhiem but I don't want him to seclude himself there. Please? He just wants to show you that the being that attacked New York is not the same person I know."
Tony and Steve sigh simultaneously (which makes me smile a little and Buck snort.) "Can Thor back you up?" Tony asks.
"I wanted to bring him with but he is busy with the whole acting as king thing while his father is ill. But he did send his regards and agrees with me."
Tony pinches the bridge of his nose and looks over at Steve. They look at each other for a moment before Steve nods. "Fine. You may both stay here. He will have his own floor when he proves himself but until then, he stays with you. I have a floor prepared, all you gotta do is decorate. There is an office we could turn into a guest bedroom but I would personally make him sleep on the couch."
I grin and throw my arms around Tony. "Thank you so much, Tones! I promise you won't regret this."
"I hope not, Elle. Otherwise it's your head. And his." He hugs me back. I hug the rest of my friends and talk to Tony about the bare necessities for my apartment before teleporting back to the hotel.
When I get there, Loki is asleep on the bed with his book open and laying on his chest. After taking the book on the bedside table, I creep towards him silently and move around the bed. Crawling in beside him, I wrap my arms around him. He wakes up enough to turn to face me, dragging me to his body before passing out again. I'll tell him we have a place to stay when we wake up.
A/N: I’m back again with the reader version of Frigga’s Son, which I posted a couple days ago (and which you can read here). Enjoy!
Read it on ao3 here!
You awoke in the middle of the night, becoming aware after a moment of your partner's restless movements in his sleep. It caused you to frown slightly, but you opted not to wake him; Loki was often a restless sleeper, but he typically settled down again after a bit. With a yawn, you pushed yourself up from bed and padded silently into the kitchen to get yourself a glass of water. As you pulled a glass from the cabinet, though, you felt your blood run cold as you heard a terrified scream come from the bedroom. You swore under your breath, cursing yourself for not staying to make sure your beloved was alright, and turned to race back to him, the glass slipping forgotten from your hand and shattering on the floor as you hurried away.
Upon returning to the bedroom, you saw Loki sitting up in the bed, hair tousled as he looked around, his expression terrified and lost. As soon as his frosty green eyes alighted on you, though, the God of Mischief nearly fell apart. You didn't hesitate for a second, crawling back into bed beside the raven-haired trickster and wrapping your arms around him. Immediately, you noticed he was trembling, and you felt your heart break for him; it was clear now that he had had another nightmare, and you silently kicked yourself for not waking him before he was awoken by the terrors in his head. Carefully, you adjusted your position until you were leaned against the headboard of the bed, Loki's head resting on your chest; he had wrapped himself around your torso like a scared child, and you ran your fingers reassuringly through his hair.
"It was him again," Loki whispered after several long moments of silence; his voice was tight and quiet, and he was obviously still shaken by his dream. He didn't have to say who 'him' was; you already knew your partner meant the Mad Titan that had manipulated him years before.
"I'm sorry, pet," you murmured. You didn't press him for more information on his nightmare; making him talk had never once worked out in the past, so it wasn't something you did unless you felt it absolutely necessary. The pair of you sat in silence for a little while longer, and just when you began to think that maybe Loki had begun to fall asleep again, he spoke. His words were soft, almost timid, as he explained what had happened to him in his nightmare; it was the same as most of them were: Loki being once again taken by Thanos and forced to relive everything he had done and everything that had been done to him while under the Mad Titan's control.
After he had talked through the whole dream, and his trembling had finally ceased, Loki curled up a bit tighter to you, his beloved. "I love you dearly, little one," he murmured, lips lightly brushing your skin as he spoke. This tiny declaration of love was common after his nightmares, almost as if reminding himself he was capable of love was grounding for him.
"And I love you, Loki Friggason," you murmured back, using a surname you were nearly certain had never been used before -- at least, not in reference to your partner. At the sound of the name, though, Loki's head shot up, and he shifted until he was sitting up a bit more, now eye-to-eye with his beloved.
"What did you just call me?" His words were bewildered and shaky, as if he couldn't comprehend what he'd just heard.
"Friggason," you repeated gently.
"But... why?"
"Because," you began simply, patient and loving as always with this fragile god that laid beside you. "You don't deserve to carry the names of men who never cared for you. Laufey abandoned you, and Odin was hardly any better. The only real parent you ever had was Frigga. She loved you more than you'll likely ever believe, maybe even more than I can. But what matters is she loved you for no other reason than you deserve to be loved. And I think it's only fair that your name should remind you of that. I know that's not how surnames work on Asgard, but I can definitively say that I don't much care about that. What I care about is making sure you never forget that you are so much more deserving of love than you let yourself believe. Alright?"
Loki simply stared at you for a long moment after you spoke, completely dumbfounded by your words. As your hand came up to rest on his cheek, though, he let out a breath and surged forward, capturing your lips in a kiss. As Loki pulled away, you felt a bit of wetness on your cheeks, and you realized that your partner was crying.
"Thank you," the trickster rasped, resting his forehead against yours for a moment and gazing into your eyes. "Thank you."
"You're welcome, pet. Now, come on. We could both use some more rest," you cooed gently, offering him a sweet smile as you settled down once again, Loki's face half-buried in your neck, and he was asleep just a few minutes later, with you following close behind.
