forever child jotun loki!
he's a special kind of seiðr-wielding mage that never ages beyond that of a small child. he is very clever, don't be fooled, but his exact age is a nebulous thing-- he has the comprehension of an older child, and sometimes that of an adult, but requires the same care a toddler would (e.g. nursing a pacifier when anxious or tired, needing naps everyday, help getting dressed, etc.) and the stature of about a five-to-six year old.
he was treated poorly by his father, laufey, for being as small as he was, and his mother did her best to keep him safe, but after a long battle with an illness she contracted when pregnant with loki, farbauti passed away... and laufey cast loki out in a fit of rage and grief.
loki wandered through the nine realms by way of tears in time space he could detect with his seiðr, till he eventually ended up in vanaheim and was taken in by freyr, the queen of the realm. when thor came to visit, just a couple of moons after loki's arrival, he stumbled upon the little jotun hiding in the royal gardens. freyr begged thor not to tell anyone, for fear they would hurt him... but thor had no intention of doing so. he could sense the magic in the small being staring up at him, and felt his own straining to reach out. he knew then, that loki was his to care for...
