What I Wouldn’t Do (Part 2)
A/N: This part is a little bit more concise than the last. I never expected this to be more than two parts, but right now, we’re looking at maybe four! I have a few requests in my inbox that I haven’t forgot about, I just work Monday-Saturday with little time to write. This part is pretty fluffy!
Summary: Once Loki and the reader reach Asgard, old memories start flooding back while new memories are being made.
By the time you crawled out of bed at 1pm, word had gotten out that you really were pregnant and that you and Loki were leaving for Asgard. Loki was already out of bed by the time you woke up, more than likely talking to his brother and being caught up on the events that have taken place on Asgard since he has been prisoner on Earth.
You stumbled into the kitchen once more to find everyone in there waiting for you. The smell of bacon, sausage, eggs, and coffee filled your nose, and you couldn’t be happier that it didn’t make you feel nauseous.
“Guys, you didn’t have to do this.” You said while rubbing the sleep from your eyes.
“Yes we did.” Steve stated from the stove, where he and Bucky were finishing the last pan of bacon.
Bruce walked over to you with your favorite mug full of fresh coffee, made just the way you like it. “You told us something personal and important, and none of us believed you. We at least owe you breakfast before you go.”
“I think at this point it would be lunch.” Tony chimed in from the table.
You graciously took the mug with a big smile, then hugged Bruce with your free arm, being careful not to spill it. “Thank you, guys.” You said, right before tears started welling up in your eyes.
Natasha jumped up and went over to you, pulling you into a comforting hug. “What’s wrong?”
You tried biting back your tears, but to no avail. A few tears fell down your cheeks and you pulled back with a sad looking smile. “I’m just so happy that you guys aren’t mad.”
A few awes came from the room which made you laugh. “Knock that shit off. I’m pregnant, not a little bitch.”
Bucky brought a made plate of food over to the table for you and pulled out the chair for you. “Milady.” He said with a bit of playful sarcasm. You sat down and he pushed your chair in for you. “Thanks.” You said before sipping you coffee. “This better not be decaf.” You stated, looking at Bruce with a very suddenly serious expression.
“Nope. Fully caffeinated. You’re allowed one cup of caffeine a day.” He said, smiling. “Doctor’s orders.”
You reciprocated the smile and happily sipped it.
The next hour was filled with laughter, chatter, and tears; The tears were mostly from you... okay, all from you. Eventually, the brothers came in. Thor looked slightly irritated, but Loki looked very aggravated.
“I did not think that something this simple would require a four hour discussion-“
“-Argument” Thor corrected and he glared at his little brother.
Loki rolled his eyes, then looked at you. “Thor has caught me up on recent events and has helped me perfect many of his mannerisms to really sell this illusion. The problem is convincing Heimdall not to tell father of me.”
“How would he know? Your illusions are pretty damn convincing.” Sam asked.
Thor claps a hand on Sam’s shoulder. “Loki has been getting better at his illusions. He was even able to fool me earlier. As for Heimdall, he sees all. He can see the universe all at once. He is likely already aware of our circumstance, but I will go talk with him as you make your way to the Bifrost.” Thor smiles and slaps Loki on the back as he went to leave the room, making him stumble forward a little. “I am proud of you, little brother, and I wish you both luck.”
A micro smile pulls at the corner of Loki’s lips at this complement, but it quickly faded as Thor’s grip on Loki’s shoulder tightened to the point of causing slight pain. “And do not use my form to get me in trouble, because I will fight you again, brother mine.” Thor warned in a low voice so the others couldn’t hear.
He swallowed hard. “I wouldn’t dream of it.” He said with a forced smile.
You put your hands on your hips and raise an eyebrow at your boyfriend, hearing their little exchange. You then turned your attention to Thor. “Don’t worry about him. I’ll keep him under control.”
“You most certainly will not.” Loki chimed in.
“Oh really? Because I have ways, Loki.”
Loki raised an eyebrow back at you. “Did you just threaten me?”
“Oh honey, I don’t threaten. Threats are but empty words. I make promises.”
Loki was grinning now, as were you.
“I like this one.” Thor said with a laugh.
“I do as well. I think I’ll keep her.” Loki responded. You stepped over to him and placed a gentle kiss on his lips. The whole room fake gagged at this.
“Oh shut up.” Loki hissed. “We’ve obviously done worse than that.” He gestured to your stomach.
Some real disgust was expressed at that statement, which made both of you laugh.
You made your way outside with Loki, who was already disguised as his brother. Everyone gathered in a semicircle around where you both stopped.
Tony pushed himself to the front of the crowd. “Nononono. Not on the grass. It took months for lawn maintenance to make it look normal again after last time!”
Roadie slammed his arm out to stop him, then gave him the “mom” glare.
Loki wrapped his arms around your waist and pulled you tight against him, which made you squeak. You stiffened with discomfort as you were pulled against him.
“What’s wrong love?” Loki’s voice said softly from the illusion
“It’s odd that Thor is holding me so intimately.”
“Odd, yes, but you are a grifter— a spy. You lie and act for a living. You are going to have to sell this illusion. Now, hold tight.”
You wrapped your arms around his neck and braced yourself against him. You felt a downward rush of air which was followed by bright yellow and orange rays of light encircling you both. The pressure being put on you was enough to make you grimace with discomfort, but right as you did, the pressure was gone and felt as light as a feather as you were rushed up through the tube of light. You pulled your eyes open into a squint and looked over Thor’s shoulder at the universe rushing by you. The rays of light rapidly changed color as you transcended through the galaxy and into another world. It was amazing, terrifying, beautiful, and absolutely unbelievable. Loki’s hold on you tightened, which pulled you out of your trance-like state. Suddenly, your feet were on solid ground, and your knees gave out.
You stumbled slightly, but he caught you with ease. “Are you alright?”
You jumped a little at Thor’s voice, but you got your balance back and stood upright. “That was amazing.”
“Welcome to Asgard, Lady Y/N.” A deep voice came from behind you. A tall, dark man in golden armor with glowing eyes to match stood holding the hilt of a large sword.
He removed the sword, and the gate closed. “Welcome back, my Prince.” The man nearly hissed.
Loki sighed. “Y/N, this is Heimdall. He guards the bifrost.”
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Heimdall. You must be the one Thor talked to before our arrival.”
“Yes.” He said to you, then looked over to Loki, seeing through his illusion. “You come here with good intention. I hope you intend to keep it.”
Loki forced a smile onto his face. “It is nice to see you again too.”
He placed his now much larger hand on the small of your back and guided you to the arch way out of the bifrost and onto the rainbow bridge. Your mouth hung open at the absolutely gorgeous scene before you. The bridge was transparent with the same rushing colors that surrounded you on your way there. Below it laid restless water— each wave reflecting and refracting the light of the bridge. Beyond the bridge was the golden city that you’ve only ever read about in old mythology books.
The scenery was surreal. The water was crystal clear. The sky was so… transparent. On Earth, when looking up on a clear day, you see blue. At night, you see the black of the sky and specks of stars. On Asgard, you could see planets, stars, distant nebulas, and much more so clearly.
“Welcome to Asgard, love.” Loki’s voice spoke softly, startling you out of your thoughts.
He chuckled at you fumbling over your words. “Breathtaking?”
You looked up at him and giggled softly. “Yeah.”
“That was my reaction when my father brought Thor and I to Midgard for the first time. We were young teens. It was spherical, and so full of life. It was unlike anything I had ever seen— Day and night, the changing of weather, the changing of seasons, gravity, the way and rate everything evolved, the overall way time passed. It was so beautiful, and so terrifying. We had to be taught our strength. Humans are so frail, and lives so fleeting…” He trailed off and glanced at you before turning his gaze back to the the place he once called home.
You looked down and away from him, not knowing how to respond. There was a short silence. He brought his fingers to his lips and whistled loudly in a particular pattern, then placed his hand on your back once more, guiding you to walk forward with him. “We’ll meet her half way.”
“‘Her’ who? What kind of terrifying mythological creature did you call to us?”
He quirked an eyebrow at you. “A myth is something that does not exist. You once believed this was all a myth, yet here you are, carrying the Prince of Asgard’s child.” He said proudly.
You narrowed your eyes at him. “I can’t tell if you’re being your normal conceited self or if you’re working on your Thor impression.”
A smirk found its way to his lips. “Both.”
You laughed and shook your head.
It was so odd to be talking to Loki as he was disguised as his brother. The hands that held you had the size of Thor’s, but the gentleness of Loki’s. You knew that once you got into the city, his tone and mannerisms would change, but you had to remember that this was mission. You were on a job and had to be professional.
After a minute or two of walking and taking in all of the new sights and sounds, you saw movement on the bridge ahead of you. Loki smiled widely and started walking faster. As the figure got closer, you were able to make out that it was a white horse, larger than you’ve ever seen. You caught up with Loki just as the horse stopped in front of him. The horse looked him and sniffed him before jumping excitedly. He was smiling ear to ear and speaking in ‘baby-babble’ as he pet her.
“I assume this is your horse?”
He turned to you, still smiling. “Her name is Bragð.”
Loki’s brow furrowed when you started laughing. “What is so funny about her name?”
After you could speak again, you wiped a tear from your eye. “You named her Gimmick!?
With a sigh, he turned from you to continue petting her. “When I was younger, I was much more of a trickster than you know me to be. I would scare the horses because I thought their reactions were amusing, but this little one seemed to like it.” He looked down at her and smiled genuinely, which wasn’t a look he expressed very often.
“One night, I snuck into the stables to scare the horses again. I was sneaking up on Thor’s horse when Bragð snuck up on me and pushed me over into a pile of what I hoped was mud.”
She whinnied at him as if laughing.
“At that moment, I knew she was my horse, and my friend.”
Having Loki open up and talk about his childhood to you felt like such an honor. You got to know him on Earth, but he never opened up about his life on Asgard, assuming it was all bad and painful memories from the way he talked about it. You were touched by his story. You walked over to her and gently offered your hand to her. She sniffed cautiously and snorted a few times at the new smells coming from you. As she became more comfortable, she moved her head and sniffed your belly. She whinnied, stomped, and jumped in what appeared to be excitement, which made you laugh.
You reached out and pet her. “I’ll call you Brella, since I’m not the most fluent in the Nordic dialects.”
Before you knew it, you were being lifted by the waist and set onto her, followed by Loki jumping on behind you.
“Wait. You’re supposed to be Thor. Shouldn’t you be riding his horse?”
“His was killed in battle a long time ago. He was heartbroken and has since refused to call another his own.”
He grabbed the reins with one hand and held onto you with the other. “Áfram!”
Brella started running back down the bridge, causing you to yelp and nearly fall over at the sudden increase in speed.
“I’ve got you, my love.” Loki comforted as his arm tightened around you.
