If you planned this all,” she seethed, “Then why are we even here? Why bother with this pointless barrage of reveals?”

“The point of a journey, my dear, is to be changed by it,” He Who Remains said, “And you must admit, it’s been quite the journey.”

His eyes swivelled from her and she followed his smug, glittering eyes as he looked at Loki and Mobius.

“I saw it all,” a laugh bubbled in up through his pleased smile, “Including an intriguing romance between a Fugitive and a Bureaucrat. Maybe Sylvie, you should consider who it is in this room that you can truly trust.”

Sylvie’s spine straightened. Loki’s fists were clenched at his sides and Mobius was doing the strange thing with his jaw that spoke of deep stress.

“You manipulated our entire route. You are no one to talk on “trust”,” Loki hissed.

“I may have paved the way, but you walked down it. I can stack the dominoes or knock them over but I can’t dictate how you discuss and play the game,” He Who Remains’ grin broadened, resembling a Cheshire cat.

“Don’t listen to him Sylvie,” Mobius said quietly, “He’s playing us all against one another.”

“Do you believe you can trust another Loki?” He Who Remains shrugged, innocently gesturing between Sylvie and Loki, “Do you think, after watching such a spectacular display of forbidden courtship play out, that a Loki wouldn’t choose his lover over himself? Or herself…”
