i’ve even seen ppl say “she doesn’t have bpd, she’s just a woman” and my honest response to that is… wtf? wtaf does that even mean? are you implying that women can’t be mentally ill/show signs of mental illness? are you saying that literal symptoms of mental illness/disorders is just “being a woman” and therefore not worth any kind of further analysis or anything? literally wtf r u even saying rn??? not even gonna get into how misogynistic and ableist that sounds.
but anyways, now we’re gonna play a little game called, “does jinx show that symptom?”
criteria for bpd btw (you must meet 5/9 to be considered for diagnosis):
- 1) “frantic efforts to avoid real or imagined abandonment”: ✅✅✅
- 2) “a pattern of unstable and intense interpersonal relationships characterized by alternating extremes of devaluing and idealizing”: ✅✅✅
- 3) “identify disturbance; persistently unstable self of self/self-image”: ✅✅✅
-4) “impulsivity in at least two areas that are potentially self-damaging”: ✅✅✅
-5) “recurrent suicidal behavior, gestures, threats, and/or self-harming behavior”: ✅✅✅
-6) “affective instability due to a marked reactivity of mood”: ✅✅✅
-7) “chronic feelings of emptiness”: ✅ (i personally believe jinx does experience this trait more than that, but i wanna strictly stay w what the show shows explicitly)
-8) “inappropriate, intense anger or difficulty controlling anger”: ✅✅✅
-9) “transient, stress-related paranoia or severe dissociative symptoms”: ✅✅✅
soooooooo… how exactly does she not show symptoms of bpd? no, i didn’t bring up any specific or explicit examples from the show itself (bc this isn’t meant to be a whole character analysis) but i honestly don’t think i should have to. maybe rewatch the show with this in mind if you need to.
