Mel Medarda, the Soul's Reflection
thinking about her™
Nobody is perfect.
But she.
She is.
My beautiful girlfriend :)
Ambessa and Mel stuff!! :)
Something I’ve thought about a lot regarding Viktor dying during Piltover 9/11 and Mel’s magic shielding her and Jayce is how we’re shown that the arcane in regards to hextech rejects Mel.
In season 2 when Viktor is in the arcane cocoon we see Mel reach out but then Viktor’s brand of arcane magic repeals her. It creates sharp daggers and follows her hand pushing her away.
We later see this in the council room confrontation with Viktor’s ceramic robot. Although initially Mel was using her brand of arcane to protect Jayce from Viktor, her arcane seems to react to Viktor himself. Creating sharp sparks when he is near it.
It’s almost as if their brands of arcane magic repel each other, the same side of two magnets desperately pushing away from each other.
Knowing this, or at least theorizing this, I firmly believe that Mel’s instinct was to protect Viktor too in the blast. That her arcane probably tried to shield him however his own arcane was coursing through his blood at that point. His arcane repelled that protection just like it pushed her hand away when it was “healing” him.
Then again I could be wrong, I could be seeing things that aren’t there but it’s still interesting to think about.
