I wish Glee did more with Jane Addams Academy. They were a school of female ex-cons who were super underprivileged, but from what we saw of them, they were a really talented bunch and it seems that the arts had a positive impact on them. Sadly, I barely even remembered that school was a thing until I started rewatching Glee. They were certainly a more interesting show choir than the Warblers, that was constantly shoved in our faces. What a waste.

Okay, I know this is ancient history, but...

I wonder if the Warblers don’t LIKE Kurt, which is why they were so focuses and obsessed with ONLY getting Blaine back in season 3, and why they went along with rock-salt slushying Kurt. 

The reason they don’t like Kurt is because he “stole” Blaine from them and made Blaine transfer.

That’s just my theory.

According to the livepopbars website not a single Glee song is in the top 1500 songs on Itunes right now.

Am I imagining it or is there a new Glee episode tonight?

Good to know Blarren fans can band together to get a song he helped make up to 200something right when its released but can't keep it in the top 1500 for even a few days.

Aren't Glee tracks usually in the 1000's by this time on an airing night?

Dear god, why are Rachel and Kurt even worried about VA when their performances and songs sucked. Will managed to single handedly bring VA from show choir gods to whatever they are now and its heartbreaking. I was always a VA fan and cheered them on in competitions, but now I honestly don't believe they will win anything. Same goes for the Warblers. Under Blaine they lost every single performance and the only time they did win he rated them out.

Can I ask what you thought of 'Sing' in itself? Not the performance but just the song.

I presume you mean the Glee version?

The intro is predictable and smooth, unfortunately with that annoying (computer created/synthesized?) beat already in it. I prefer the much simpler guitar intro of the original personally, but this is a typical build up to a Warblers song. Then in the first verse the backing vocals of the Warblers get really crowded and wild. It’s imo too loud and distracting from the lead vocals, just a cacophony of “Dadadada” and “Pumpumpedum”. I know the Warblers are an acapella group, but when there’s a solo in a song you’re supposed to hear it over the rest of the bunch doowopping away as if their lives depend on it.

The vocals are also overal (backup and solos) very overproduced, with an echoing effect that does not fit with the room of the performance (I know you asked not to include the performance, but with the echo sound mixed in the way it is the room the song is performed in in the show matters imo), they’re not performing in a church for crying out loud. The many different vocals combined with this echoing/overproducing effect makes the song a bit sluggish, plus it makes the lead singer (the one before Blaine) sound as if he has a cold, although he seems to be a good singer. Maybe they had to amp up his voice to be able to hear him over the rest. Hopefully the iTunes and/or show version will have a better sound quality.

The this time clearly synthesized beat that starts in the “I need you darling” part is really irritating to me (and should not even be in an acapella song, not that this hasn’t happened before with the Warblers), but maybe they’re trying to sell it to us too as actual natural vocals from the Warblers. It’s Glee after all.

However, the backup and acapella singing of the Warblers does work very well in the chorus and the part right before it, and also in the next verse (when Darren is singing). They are less distracting and better suited to the song (and of course taken directly from the original), although there’s still that beat ruining it for me.

They obviously left out the rap part, which is probably wise.

Darren’s voice imo sounds best when it gets layered and backed up by other voices behind him, which I think partly explains the success of his and the Warblers’ early songs on Glee. I like his voice in ‘Sing’, but only up untill he starts singing in his falsetto. His falsetto is not bad, but it’s not very good either. His voice clearly is very tweeked/autotuned in the falsetto part (although again the disclaimer that the iTunes and/or show’s version might sound better), probably to hide some slight wheezing I can still hear a bit.

So, overall: a cover I think Darren’s and the Warblers’ fans will enjoy, and probably also a large part of the GA. It’s sure upbeat and fun, as Ed Sheeran wrote a very catchy song to begin with, and I’m sure the dancing in the performance will enhance the song even more. But to me personally it sounds too much like a cheap trick of Glee to revive the good old Warblers days. It’s like the music producers used a 2-dimensional copy of a 3-dimensional sound (the original Warblers, aka the Beelzebubs) for this song, and then on top of that they only used the most outlined features that were still visible on the copy, in a repetitive way, while the original nuances/details have faded away.

Why don't you like Kurt?

A plethora of reasons that I don’t really care to get into that much detail about, but I’ll try to summarize my opinions (I’m not trying to claim these as facts in any way, shape, or form, so please refrain from sending me follow up messages attacking me because I respect that other people feel differently; I just personally can’t stand him,)

He’s been my least favorite character since season 1, a season in which I felt like he was overly stereotyped and also where I was annoyed by the predatory crush on Finn.

I hate his singing voice, I cringe in most songs he sings, so the fact that they try to push it as ‘oh, Kurt has one of the best voices’ is frustrating.

SO WHINY IN SEASON 2. SO SO WHINY.

THE WARBLERS. I hate the Warblers, I thought they were a huge waste of screen time, and a large part of why they existed was because of Kurt.

Klaine is so meh, yet they get so much screen time.

Although he’s less annoying and whiny than he was in seasons 1 and 2, now I feel like they just make him so preachy.

I’ve had extremely bad encounters with Kurt stans taking the ‘but Kurt can do no wrong’ mentality.

Some of my very worst RP experiences have involved Kurt’s causing drama both IC and OOC, which only further cemented my hatred of the character.

Crappy friend to Rachel but then everyone crucifies Rachel for the same things they think aren't wrong with Kurt's behavior

I wish The Warblers never existed. They're so boring and I don't understand why they have so many fans.
