Chapter 2 : The Heroine
It ends numb.
Steadily losing feeling everywhere as her sister fledgling friend fists hit you with furious weight and intention behind them, strength failing, unable to even crawl, not that you are even trying to escape anymore.
It ends numb.
An ache in your chest still water blood fading after one last spike as you hear them say Goldsmith would be proud, more to themself than to you, but it to fades like everything else.
It ends numb.
Black taking over your vision, ears muffled like your drowning again, relief a faint fog as you fall, dying dead like you should have long ago.
It's over.
You're done.
.
.
.
There's faint birdsong and rippling of water, fading in like a bad dream. You blink, color and light bleeding into bright sunlight that burns after the dark, but is warm and gentle in a way you couldn't remember.
You're standing on a too familiar beach, a tower you know well rising from a lake.
You take breath, chest rising and falling steady, burning when you try and stop like you need air. There's pounding in your chest so loud in your ears, a rush you never noticed but can't not now.
No.
You turn, slowly, taking in the untouched land, sand smooth of footprints and blood, trees standing tall, not burnt stumps and logs.
No. This can't-
Just barely out of sight lays the beacon, color bleached of red or gold, plain like the butter tofu you once joked it was.
You remember this.
Your body breathes in, unable to hold it anymore, your heart beating so loud in your chest, warm in the way you haven’t been in ages, pain spiking as you collapse, tears stinging your eyes as you take in your hands, pink alive and free of black claws.
No!
It's time to wake up now, Jack.
Oh god! He’s torturing you…. With bad puns!
I think the puns are the least of my problems here.
burr it’s really easy just aim the gun at your head and pull the trigger
we need to know what happens if YOU die instead i promise we don’t hate you 🫶🫶🫶 this is just a really unethical science experiment
This is a science experiment I want no part in. I will either die honourably in the duel against Hamilton, or I will not.
And what do you mean ‘instead?’
