+ Encounter With: The Pale Widow
This one is another monster that I saw this art for the cover and thought, yes, that.
Pale widows are undead humanoid creatures that appear normal unless seen in a mirror (particularly a silvered mirror) or illuminated by moonlight. Their true appearance, hidden beneath a false beauty, is skeletal and necrotic. They are not just well disguised, however, and are incredibly durable for undead. They are immune to most non-magical damage, they can regenerate, and they can drain the life force of other creatures. And when they drain a humanoid completely, that creature becomes a skeletal servant under their command.
This creature is a good substitute for a lich in a low level campaign, as it is only CR 6. Alternatively, it makes for a good agent or paramour for a lich.

D&D loot suggestions
so i’m DMing a game every Monday and i want to add some wild n crazy items to a loot table for my players to find. i’m happy to add ALMOST anything as long as it’s not game breaking or story breaking (a flaming poison raging sword of doom would be awesome but....nah...). it’s my hope that this campaign reaches the higher levels....dont want players clicking on ‘god-mode’ n breezing through it so fast.
i’ll be reblogging this everyday (if i can remember) and checking it everyday to see what people suggest.
D4 Pieces of Random Loot
It can feel like you do nothing but hand out gold and magic. This can get state real quick. So, liven up your loot rewards by adding whatever you roll on this table to it!
1) 1,000 Chickens: According to the PHB, they can exchange each chicken for 2 whole copper pieces! Let the PCs enjoy the 20 gp worth of poultry.
2) Gold Plated Wood Coins: Can be exchanged as regular gold if no one notices, and it conveniently is half the weight! Hopefully the PCs don’t get caught using it.
3) Soda: This sweat elixir is dark, bubbly, and delicious. However, anyone who drinks it must make a Constitution save DC 16 or expel a belch that can be heard 500’ away! It’s a delicious trap!
4) Bellybutton Lint Collection: This large jar of greasy lint seems to have no value, but a DC 15 Arcana check reveals that this oily fabric could easily be woken into either a Cloak of the Manta Ray or Protection with a little time.
