Second set of God tarot cards! more on the way~
Set 2 Souls
The High Priestess - Secrets and hidden influence.
Chaos God of Chaos, Control and Entropy
Chaos is by mythological standards considered a minor god, but to her peers she is one of the strongest deities; even scaring the God of the Ocean enough that she is unchallenged by her. Chaos power is uncontrolled even by her, unconsciously corrupting the world around her as if she was an abrasion on the earth. Her presence causes souls to change the conscious of its owner without her helping it. It creates paranoia, hysteria and mania to even demi-gods. As noted during her relationship with the Wind Gods son, Haeres where as he descended into madness and in his ruined state of mind he perished after challenging a group of people not loyal to the Anemoi crown. These souls effected by her presence lack the ability to exist beyond the mortal realm, breaking in a sense when they leave their earthly husk. However, given the chance to be created and raised in her presence allows even normal humans to exist near her, if not be blessed by her through access to stronger powers they otherwise wouldn’t have. She lives in the furthest depths of Midonia near the border to the No-Mans-Land of the Nidus, where she lives above a small, but very old town of worshipers to her which benefit from her presence. Non passively, and the scariest part of her to the gods is her ability to create a cloud of fog from her pipe that in humans can cause an accelerated version of her passive powers or in both mortals or gods, a hypnotizing or paralyzing fog.
Shen (see bellow) was created at the same time as Chaos by the remnants of power left by the creation of the previous gods. (Rryme, Athos, Exitium, Alpha etc)
(I may add to this later!)
The Fool - Blissful carelessness, the power of ignorance.
Cextos - One half of Alpha, ruler of All that Does Not Live in Shadow.
Belongs to @the-majestic-pterodactyl-senpai
Long ago there existed one God in Midonia: Alpha. They used their powers to form the landscape, all the way from the shallowest ditch to the highest mountain peak. After they finished their work, they sat for a long, long while; contemplating their next step. They had done all they could think to do, and now become overwhelmed by the feeling of loneliness. Though they were apart of the Pantheon, Alpha was relatively isolated from the other gods, the lands provided to them being an ocean away from all of the others domains. Alpha soon made a strange decision, and split themself in half: becoming the two brothers, Demaskus and Cextos. The brothers grew up among the Pantheon of Old Gods, somewhat being raised by the God of Stone (Athos) but for the most part, were left to figure out their purposes on their own. Midonia became the only domain split between two gods, and the brother soon had to decide their roles. It was left to a draw of sticks who would take the mouthful of a title as “God of all That Does not Live in Shadow” (More often referred to as The Strength of Midonia). Cextos had drawn the longer sticking, leaving him to take care of Midonia’s land and sky, leaving his brother to handle things underground. He set forth creating every creature that would ever live or die in Midonia, from the smallest shrew to the largest lindworm. From the daisies to the oaks. He made sure that no corner of the land wasn’t bustling with life. Feeling pleased with himself, he finally went onto one last creation: man. In Midonian folklore and religion it is often cited that man was created in the image of Cextos. Though Cextos does care for all of his creations, their lives and deaths all having an impact on him, it has come to a point in time however that he has slowly neglected checking in on humanity. If he doesnt see that there is a problem going on, then it simply cannot exist, at least by his logic. The longer he can ignore things the better.
The Devil - The pain and delight of giving in to temptation. Demaskus One half of Alpha, the ruler of the Underworld
Cont. The Fool
Belongs to @the-majestic-pterodactyl-senpai
It was Demaskus who had been left to rule over the Underworld, while his brother set forth creating life above ground. In Folklore and Midonian Religion, Demaskus is portrayed as a cruel and heinous villain, similar to and mostly based off the Christian beliefs towards the Devil. In many paintings and books he is depicted as having the head of a decayed deer, and a body of fur and rotted flesh. It is mostly well known that he is in truth not a zombified monster as depicted, but appears as a regular man with Albinism. And in truth, Demaskus is a humble and kind god to those who deserve it. He brings punishment to those who deserve it, but a relaxed afterlife to those who ended up under his rule for reasons beyond their control. Demaskus does not actually know what the Underworld truly looks like, as to everyone who enters it it appears differently depending on your sin and morality, and to Demaskus it is nothing more than a grey room.
The Hierophant - Spiritual authority Shen God of Nature, Animal life and Souls
Probably worshiped the least traditionally out of the main gods, Shen is the protector of his kingdom of Yggdrasil. While he likes humans, he does not often deal in their affairs, rather he focuses on the balance and maintenance of his forest (Yggdrasil being about the size of Australia) and the worlds ecosystems if need be- He is also the first guardian of the fountain of youth, however he has passed the job of guardian on to his first child. His children being of course his homunculi built from the bodies of the dead and wandering souls. Unlike most gods who relish in human-like temptation and sin; Shen is known as a very pure soul in that sense so all of his children are made by him and him alone. When Shen was brought into existence, he was alone for a very long time. He was raised by the forest spirits passively, who protected him while he grew and learned his powers. He was very lonely however, and through experimentation with his powers he learned to shape beings and put life into them. He started with simple animals but as he aged he created what could be described closer to monsters, and then slowly he created things closer to people; otherwise known as his homunculi. Yggraslin cities, tribes, clans and nomad alike worship Shen all differently. Some modify their body, do spiritual trials, live through Taoist philosophy, fight and kill in his name, or preserve life in Shens name. While each person may have their own beliefs there is a general kinship between Shens worshipers and a sense of nationalism about their home land that prevents much discourse within Yggdrasil. A consistent belief in his worshipers is to respect ones self, others, and nature as missing one of those core elements leaves a person open to inviting hateful spirits into their life. Another part of the Yggdrasil nationalism is their collective distaste for their neighbor of Gix’s way of life of constant consumption.
Ironically Shen and the god of Gix (Athos), are inseparable friends. He was the first god Shen met, and the same god that protected him when he had been defeated by Exitium during a dispute over Exitiums territory expansion. (See The Sun for more)
Shen by some standards is the counter of Chao. His presence creates an unconscious feeling of serenity and clarity of mind.
First set of God tarot cards! more on the way~
Set 1 Collide
The Moon - Longing for fulfillment Rryme God of the Ocean, Atrophy and Fertility.
Rryme, in her mythos is almost always depicted holding the moon in her horns and carrying the stars on her back. She watches over her domain of the oceans, tending to the currents with careful consideration. The card depicts her contemplation. Rryme is a god who is never satisfied. There is always something she feels is making her unhappy. Very few things give her a feeling of fulfillment, though there are things that give her a temporary feeling of relief from herself including her lust, and caring for her Steward; a satyr homunculus made by the forest god (Shen) as a present to her. She has a distaste for humans, finding most no more then greedy cockroaches that wont die off. Unless accompanied by another god, her homunculus or in the depths of the ocean she normally isolates herself on her furthest shrine from the main lands of the islands of Dredhe and Ishida. She is one of the oldest living gods. She is the Fire gods lover, though their relationship is open to whoever she pleases.
The Sun - Triumph and learning modesty Exitium God of Fire, Eruption and Sacrifice
This card depicts Exitium’s fall, falling into his mountains lava pit to be sealed away in hibernation until he awakens again. He had stoked the wrath of the God of Stone (Athos) by battling the god of the forests (Shen) almost to the death shortly after his attempt of expanding his territory too close to his forest caused the fight in the first place. Before Exitiums fall, he was worshiped with fear and with sacrifices brought to him. He is the Ocean gods lover. While their relationship is open to whoever she pleases he now rarely joins anybody elses bed.
Wheel of Fortune - Surprise, fate and uncertainty. Risk and Hope Pinna God of change and the Winds and Storms. Second Child of Rryme and Exitium; Pinna has taken Exitiums place as the god of Anemoi. After Exitiums fall, Rryme had abandoned both her children and they were taken by the God of Stone (Athos) where he trained the two boys. Pinna proved his superiority over time as the new Anemoi god despite his young age. While his brother, Pinna was exited to take the risks of mingling with humans, which had paid off as he grew older and found a young woman named Sera. Sera was the leader of a group of farmers, who with Pinnas help conquered Anemoi and named it so. He had three sons. Vita who carried the title of king, Cor who helped guide his brother to improving their kingdom, and Haeres who died for his kingdom after being influenced by the unconscious effects of Chao; his lover at the time and the God of Chaos, control and discourse. These effects caused Haeres to act irrational, overly brave and his sense of self preservation was lost. When Sera died shortly after Haeres, Pinna turned to a rage he didn't know he had, where as his anger and sorrow caused a storm that raged on for 10 months, where even with a clear mind he couldn't stop, only redirect to the ocean and uninhabited mountains to prevent his peoples death. In the card Pinna is depicted carrying the wheel of fortune in his claws, soaring between the mountains and through the clouds while he watches his kingdom. The sun and moon are at his back, a direct iconography of his parents.
The Star - Deciding what is precious. Somber. Far away and mysterious. Eurus, The Beast of the Mountain
First Child of Rryme and Exitium. As explained in the Wheel of Fortune, Rryme abandoned her children and they were taken by Athos. Eurus was very stubborn and refused training and cooperation. Eurus hated humans through fear of them which was taught by his mother through stories and through her rages. Exitium stoked a fear of battle and other gods into him, injuring him over and over during training as a twisted way to try to make him stronger and to punish him for his weaknesses. Athos forced him to continue training through the threat of abandoning not only him but Pinna as well, leaving them without care and protection at such a young age. When he was almost an adult, he had accidentally burning the Forest God Shen when he was startled. He was kicked out by Athos despite his apologies and Shens insistence that it was his fault for not announcing his presence when he touched Eurus. Eurus wandered Athos’ domain of Gix, wandering through earning menial cash reluctantly through the humans fighting rings and doing labor jobs here and there. While he could fly through, the risk of being shot down from the sky with all the people in Gix was too great. He flew during the cover of night under the stars, though he was tired and weak and could not travel far without stopping.
Soon though, he made his way up into the Anemoi mountains, finding a secluded place where he isolated away. He hid himself in a fog that coats the mountain like a blanket, deciding their fate as they come upon them. When a settlement started near his home, they began to try to sacrifice to him. One dusk, he came upon a woman tied up as a sacrifice to him. Freeing her, he took her to his home to wait out the coming storm where he began to open up and become a bit gentler towards humans from her care, and she began to understand the beast of the mountain is only a man struggling with his long past and fear.
