Leonie: What, you think I might tell everyone in the room that you like to be the little spoon?
Lorenz: Everyone likes to be the little spoon. It makes you feel safe! Ignatz, back me up on this
Ignatz: Yes, little spoon all the way
Lorenz: See?
Apparently my type of ship is fancy boys and women who think the five second rule sounds fake.
Lorenz: even if I fell in love with a commoner I would never act on it. I have many duties
Leonie: ow
Lorenz: it is my duty as a noble to be your nurse
Leonie: leave me alone
Lorenz: we should share a home?
Leonie: what.
Lorenz: what
My favorite thing about Lorenzie is imagining them dealing with their Feelings pre relationship.
Cause Leonie is mature enough to recognize her feelings, own them, and also come to peace with the fact that, due to Lorenz’s situation, nothing could realistically come of it. And she’s okay with that. It aches a little maybe, when she thinks about it, but she’s also a mercenary and has other stuff to worry about.
But then there’s freaking LORENZ HELLMAN GLOUCESTER losing his everloving crap, spending sleepless nights agonizing over his “Noble Duty” vs his heart; writing angsty poetry about the pain of Unrequited Love (with Manuela all like “Oh my, there’s a lot to unpack here isn’t there?”); and talking Ferdinand’s ear off about his plight. Dorothea and Mercedes give him the flattest looks ever and call him an idiot, which he deserves. Claude and Hilda both try to wingman for him (while teasing him relentlessly), but he’s Too Torn to let it go anywhere. He steals one of Ignatz’s sketches of her and hides it under his pillow. The Handkerchief is kept in his pocket At All Times, and he can be found dying internally at any given moment.
It’s my favorite dynamic.
