okay so here are some articles about LOST that i've loved and/or have given me Big Thoughts! @awogga tagging you here in case you wanna give them a look!
Overthinking LOST: the Fate vs Free Will Showdown [ Sept 7th 2009, around S5]
I honestly don't remember the content of this article, lol, but it's among my saved faves so ig there must've been a reason for it. suffice it to say that i'm, like, chronically and severely absessed with fate/destiny as a theme (duh! i adore LOST so fork found in the kitchen) so i'm sure this article made some very good points about it and/or i didn't agree with something in it but deemed it worthy nevertheless, lol.
"Lost’: If you come with me, I’ll show you what I mean [May 24 2010, after the ending]
LA Times article posted after the finale. I also don't remember the content of this one and should re-read it but I don't have time rn. Anyway, if i've saved it as a fave there surely was a reason so i hope it's good content, should you choose to read it <3
"The Unnecessary Christ of LOST" [May 24, 2010, after the finale]
Absolute thought-provoking article of all time (as far as LOST is concerned and at least as far as i'm concerned too). BEWARE that the article is published on First Things which is, like, an inter-religious publication that's heavily Christian and Jewish. i'm saying this because, like, it's not an analysis coming from a secular perspective but personally i've got a small background in religious studies so it was interesting to me to read their perspective and they did raise some compelling points, ngl with u here.
"The Deconstruction of Dr. Jack Shephard" [March 2010]
very important article that really captures what it meant to like Jack Shephard back then, lol. you see, Jack wasn't liked because he wasn't your usual hero (we're talking about the early 00s here, bear in mind) so people HATED that he cried, that he yelled, that he was governed by his emotions, really. IS THAT A MAN? /s However, by today's standards Jack ALSO isn't liked bc the show didn't do shit to give him any sort of... likable features. like, you either liked the fact that he was a reluctant, imperfect hero or... there isn't anything endearing in Jack Shephard. In 2026 we're more used to "human-like" heroes and even superheroes so men crying on the screen isn't that big of an issue and it's actually praised. Nevertheless, we like these new heroes because they do have some cutesy characteristics that sort of "redeem" them of their un-hero-like aspects while Jack has none... so... being a Jack supporter was and still is very hard, lol (please watch Jamaal Burkmar's video about Jack if you love Jack! and even if you don't! lol).
THE DEVIN'S ADVOCATE: LOST'S BIG GNOSTIC WET FART ENDING [May 24, 2010 after the finale]
as you can guess this is a finale-critical article. i don't agree with everything it's written but it deserves to be considered though-provoking bc it makes very valid, solid, factual points.
as you can see, almost all these articles were published after the finale. i'm sure you can find some blogs with post that were posted prior to May 24, 2010 and i know i've surely found some. unfortunately (or maybe not?), LOST finale has had such a gigantic influence on the TV landscape that's kinda difficult to talk about it without talking about the finale. which isn't fair and that's why there's always my blog with my silly little posts and my long ass metas and my opionions that have me blocked by people on the daily in case you're interested in discussing the show ASIDE FROM its ending!
hope it'll help!
