Being a kid who's never had any friends besides my dad, I always have known loneliness. But pokemon rubbed that in a lot. Pokemon basically makes you unable to complete their games if you're not a social butterfly! All those pokemon who evolve by trading...they're basically accidentally mocking people who are friendless. If I ever wanted a pokemon who evolved via training, I was out of luck. It was needlessly cruel. I could never use a Pumpkaboo and get a Gourgeist, just for one example from the last major time they did this (I think).
Pokemon has largely done away with this, but mythical pokemon are equally as cruel. I always wanted to unlock Celebi in Pokemon Heartgold. But because I wasn't in the right place at the right time, I never could've gotten the damn pokemon! It's so annoying. I actually managed to unlock a zeraora, but I lost him when I reset my game. So my one mythical pokemon abandoned me.
I wish pokemon had multiple save files. I wish they weren't discriminatory towards people who play things later than other people, or towards people who have 0 friends. The games are fun, but the design of the games...it feels discriminatory.
