11. In what situation was your character the most afraid they’ve ever been?

Definitely when she ran away from the alien aisha empire/her home. Tegy knew the day was coming where she would get her triangle implant and be trained to fight as a warrior, like her sister Cregan. She never had much confidence in her own physical strength, being a runt her whole life, and she felt like she was doomed no matter which path she chose. It was worth running away to maybe enjoy a few experiences of her own, free of past expectations and not bound to any duty [because of course, once you leave the protection of the empire, you will die. it is inevitable. a fish separated from its school is vulnerable etc].

Many experiences for those first couple years were new and also scary, but over her life she has gotten used to taking big plunges, and nothing really compared to leaving all she knew behind that first time.

Close seconds would be tough scrapes almost getting caught/getting caught stowing away on ships before she found her new home and work as a scavenger. even then there are dangers of digging through old space junk, but she hasnt died yet so! very happy! was not expecting to survive young-adulthood much less reach her 50s.

41 Esther, per-c, trouble

Esther: Esther is fun because they believe they have to work to get everything they want, but they are 100% willing to cheat/manipulate the circumstances to avoid doing more work than necessary. they don’t do it out of malice, but if they can see that a system is inherently broken and unfair, they’re gonna fuckin exploit it to get what they want out of it. that being said, Esther’s see-sawing self image really alters exactly how they feel about getting anything at all. when they’re at their lowest points, they feel as though everything they’ve gotten is better than they deserve. this really fucks with their ability to Maintain the things they have Earned.

PER-C: PER-C believes she deserves nothing, and that the only purpose for her existence is to act as a tool that others can use. she’s really fucked up over owning literally anything, and the years of isolation she’s suffered through have made her super desperate to appease anyone who is remotely nice to her. not that said nice person would know. the 18 thousand walls she’s built up around her makes her seem super fuckin detached. eventually she manages to work through the trauma that left her like that, but even then she still struggles to believe she deserves what she wants.

Trouble: Trouble is sort of weirdly entitled as a coping mechanism. like he feels that the world OWES him everything he wants for what he’s been put through. of course, this has sorta lead to this life of crime for him? if he wants a material object, he’ll just steal it. will say though, he’s a very material person, i don’t think he wants anything immaterial at all. the boy is very in the moment. i think the most immaterial thing he wants is the ability to dream, but there’s no way to lie/cheat/steal his way into that one, unfortunately.

Benny -  Actually loves being called small and cute because it’s such a drastic shift from his fearsome werewolf side (and he rarely wolfs out) and from what he is used to being referred to…Which is why he opened up a Bakery / Coffee Shop so he could make cute pastries and cookies.

But he’ll still fist fight you in the parking lot if you say it too much.

What is your favorite thing about art? Why has college robbed us of the bean bot? Why does Southern California feel like a completely different world from anything above Bakersfield? What is your opinion of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride? Bees?

1. i like it when i can illicit genuine reactions from people, like “thanks! i hate it!” when i draw lightning mcqueen with flesh and hands, but then also “wow that’s great!” when i draw an oc dying2. all higher forms of education seek to increase the divide between classes, insinuating that the more you pay the more learning you get. that’s hot nonsense. save your money. take local college classes. use state universities. especially if ur an art major.3. the further north u go the richer ppl are and so u get weird, surreal places like the OC, that for any number of reasons, feels like a man-made liminal space. it fuckin sucks. i dont know why rich ppl are super into tacky, tacky patterns and also to support the most unusual, unnessesary local businesses possible. i swear to god i think i was in Neo-Pasadena and passed no less than like, 3 front end microbreweries. hey, assholes, if im gonna drink a bear, i want a big one. don’t give me that polly-pockets-all-hops BULLSHIT4. i think mr toads wild ride is the one disneyland ride i always go on BEFORE the park closes. partially bc its hella cold at that point so the Hell part of the ride makes ya nice and toasty. also, the Hell? part of the ride? that’s great. i love it, i wish all disney rides had a small part where u travel thru hell while the cartoon characters scream at you5.  yeah, bees and wasps. yeah. bumble bee populations are up 27% apparently, and i think that’s great!
