Lover Live - 31.08.16

Lytham Festival 2016 What a weekend. Off of the back of a hectic three days with the band, we made the long journey up to Lytham St Annes near Blackpool to support Heaven 17 on the Pavilion stage of Lytham Festival. After a very long but comfortable journey (thanks to our snazzy van and amazing driver, Val), we emerged at the seaside and headed straight into sound check. The event crew were all ready to go when we got there and were extremely professional throughout, meaning we not only had an excellent front of house sound very quickly, but also had a monitor mix that was second to none (which is a real luxury for us). With all that considered we were all absolutely buzzing to play the show, but it was 3pm and we didn’t go on stage until 8.45pm, so we ventured off into Lytham to find food and take a look at the rest of the festival. Unfortunately, the main stage was abandoned for the evening as the winds were too dangerous, so we didn’t get to sneak in to have a look, even after battling the winds along the front to make it there. After having some (a lot), (no really loads, of pizza, we headed back to the venue to find a whole bucket of refreshments waiting for us, and an impressively organised venue manager waiting at the door to make sure we had everything we needed. Cuffe & Taylor, you treated us so well! Thank you! Fully prepared and relaxed, we walked out onto stage to our usual chorus of The Doors – People Are Strange and played to a pretty decent crowd considering the weather. Despite our tiredness, we played one of our best shows to date and hopefully won over some of the audience too – certainly by the amount of photos we took with people, it seems that we impressed more than a few! All that remained was to watch Heaven 17, re-load the van, meet and greet more of the audience/friends and make the longgggg journey home to London, eventually getting back to bed at 6am as the rest of the world woke up. All in all, it was an amazing experience, and I know we all cant wait to (hopefully) play there again next year!
