"What do you mean, you lost it?" Jack grouded out as he looked at the slightly nervous face of the Guardian of Wonder. The Christmas icon had pulled Jack into a room at the pole to have an 'important discussion' with him. It was getting later in the year, around May, and Bunny had been complaining about Jack's overuse of his powers. The winter spirit couldn't help it, though. He had believers now, and his powers had grown. He'd wanted to keep spreading his fun.
But the guardian's hadn't quite approved of that. They'd taken his staff away, much to the winter teen's dismay. "It is for good of children, you cannot be visiting them whole year" North had assured him when Jack had stormed in to confront them. He didn't like it, but there wasn't much he could do. He had little power without his staff. He'd of course tried to sneak around the pole to find it, but it was to no avail, and he was starting to get itchy without it. He needed it back.
It had been almost a month, and summer was fast approaching. He knew he needed his prised possesion back, or it wouldn't bode well for him. He'd never gone through the summer without it, but he could only imagine it would be bad.
He'd started to cause all sorts of trouble for the yetis to get North's attention. North had been avoiding Jack everytime the winter spirit had tried to talk to him about the staff. But North could only ignore him for so long. Finally he'd gotten to the russian man and demanded his staff back.
The older man had looked away, and finally pulled the teen to a seperate room to break the news to him, and Jack was more than a little angry. "How can you lose it? It's a piece of wood! It doesn't grow legs and walk off!" he said not even trying to contain his temper.
"Well, elves wanted to make toys for children and were using it. We don't know were it might have gone after that" North answered still maintaining his smile, though an awkward laugh followed.
"You let the elves play with it?" his eyes bugged out at the admission. "How long has it been missing?" he asked his anger beginning to mix with panic. They'd lost it. LOST IT. It was the only thing that had really been with him since he woke up as Jack Frost. It was what controlled most of his powers. He couldn't fly, could barely make any snow without it. And who were they to take it in the first place? On top of that they'd given something so important to the elves. And he had no idea where to look.
"About a month or so" North admitted scratching the back of his head uncomfortably.
"And you're telling me now? It's almost summer!" Jack threw back before he pushed past the guardian of wonder and threw himself into the search for his precious posession. He'd spent a long time looking for the staff, almost destroying the workshop in his desperate search for it. After a while the Russian finally had to put a stop to Jack's search. It was causing too much trouble for everyone.
So North had dropped the winter spirit in the south pole so he wouldn't cause any more trouble and would be safe from the summer elements. He'd left the teen with a snowglobe and a promise that they'd come find him when the staff was located. Jack had been furious, chucking away the crystal ball almost as soon as the other spirit left. Though after a week spent there, he began to regret his initial hasty reaction. His rage had all but slipped away and was replaced by a mounting anxiousness. The more time he spent away from his staff, the more edgy and anxious he felt. And now he'd thrown away his only way to get back to the others. He searched for the discarded snowglabe in the snow that covered the ground. This was going to take a while.
