I know exactly how you feel as I put 10 pints of tomatoes in the freezer while making breakfast and lunches before the school bus comes and then I have to get to work… Let alone put time in on my creative projects. More power to you!
I sort of totally failed at chopping/bagging/freezing last week's veggies, and I pick up this week's tonight. Eek! I know what I'm doing Wednesday night. Which is like... the one night I think I have time! I sympathise with you and the tomatoes and the squeezing of time!!

The room with the ferns is gorgeous! I'm intrigued by the Swiss cheese plant! You take such great pics. Do you have a love for photography as well? You need to Google succulent wreaths and look at the images. Our Botanic Garden did a whole room of them last summer. I tried...but mine got over watered and exploded! So I repotted all the plants. :D
Yeah, I’m still learning how to water all my plants, including the succulents.
I do like photography; I used to have a proper camera but it’s just so much easier to use my phone’s, at this point. But mostly I like it because it lets me share my ADVENTURs with all of you :D

Please don't use the knife after drinking the vodka. We don't need more stories about you injuring yourself.
Oh, no worries. The knife was a commission from Mum; she likes to send me to the kitchen store because we have such a good one in Chicago (Northwestern Cutlery in Fulton Market). It’s staying in brown paper until I can ship it to her.

I already have a fan crush on you, and then I find out you listen to Tom Lehrer. Swoon!
When I was a kid I loved his music, we had a bunch of his albums, but then I kind of forgot about him until last year when OF ALL THINGS the Civil War read-through I did reminded me of it (Reed Richards sings Werner Von Braun at one point). I reacquired all his albums and put a bunch of them on my regular rotation, and they turned out to be good run-playlist songs because they’re short. Most Tom Lehrer songs are roughly equal to one block of walking in Chicago :D

I got me a JAR OF OWL!
You can’t deny it’s a conversation starter.

That was the first Harry Potter story I read...."Look, I brought the good influence."
Aw! I’m glad it could be your first :)

It's amazing how quickly you can go from "NO way in hell, those people are crazy to do that!" to doing it yourself. 4 years ago, I could barely do 5ks and mocked those doing half-marathons and challenges (10k one day, HM the next) but I did one of those challenges this January and am completing the runDisney "castle to chateau" challenge in Sept - the January half marathon here, and another in Paris in the same year. I used to mock, and now I can do! You can do the same!
Fingers crossed! I’ve been told it’s sort of an exponential thing, like once you hit a certain point, every step feels easier. I’m registered for 5Ks every month through November, and I’ve got some lined up through March, so I’m thinking May or June of next year is when I’ll shoot for 10Ks.

1980s Buckaroo Banzai Sweatshirt I have this...
Oh my god I wish I had a chance in hell this fit.
You may have some idea how much it breaks my heart that it doesn’t fit me. I love that movie so much, and this was a favorite sweatshirt back in the day. I was amazed to find this in a bin while cleaning out my closet, and I seriously tried to get it on. There is a part of me that was tempted to shove it back in the closet and pray to lose enough weight somehow.

1980s Buckaroo Banzai Sweatshirt I have this...
Too small for me, too. Would you consider having it made into something else? like a tote bag or a pillow or…?
...if I were to put the effort into doing something like that, I would probably keep it? I hadn’t even thought of something like that. It was a favorite of mine--like, literally the only fanzine I ever bought in the heyday of zines was for Buckaroo Banzai.
I’d love to give first shot to someone who is able to wear it, just because it’s a part of fandom history as it is, before seeing it transformed. I will admit that if it had been a t-shirt, I would’ve put it in my bin of keepsake shirts which are being transformed into rugs and possibly blankets.
Will the tiny stockings fit on a cat?
Serious testing took place after this question was received.
Conclusion: Yes, these stockings will fit on a cat, however the cat does feel she was made to look stupid.
lovesthesmarty happy 8th anniversary of making a beautiful baby together. You are a great friend.
also, June.
June: favourite book
The Hound of the Baskervilles by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. I have a fantastic audiobook read by Derek Jacobi, and there's one read by Christopher Lee that I want so bad.
I am loving corset day! The various details and period differences have been so much fun to see. I am re-inspired to get my half-finished piece out of sewing purgatory and finish it up!
get workin!
