I saw the news about the LRT 1 extension finally opening.
Finally. Las Piñas na lang and malibot ko na Metro Manila by commute and by walking.
so for very nerdy reasons, i made a map of the Greater Manila Area’s railway lines that looks similar to Hong Kong’s MTR map. Notice how terribly low my city is with railway lines. If only these lines would eventually come into reality.
(RANT) LIGHT RAIL TRANSIT
LRT (Light Rail Transit) Prino-provoke niyo ko! PI AR OW VI OW KEY II PROVOKE! First time ko maexperiens ma-CROWD CONTROL NG ISANG (1) ORAS! Okay fine. Sabihin OA ganyan chuchu rush hour naman kasi pag 7pm ganyan. Pero acceptable naman KUNG yung crown control eh from ENTANCE (LABAS) TICKET BOOTH or PASUKAN NG TICKET TO STAIRS e kaso hindi eh! STAIRS TO TRAIN yung Crowd Control sa CENTRAL TERMINAL! Imagine 7pm kami pumila nakaakyat kami 8pm *boses ni babalu* WOW NAMAN! HEAVY! Nakakainis lang kasi, bakit inuna yung BEEP CARDS? Hindi ba’t dapat ang inuuna e yung mga TREN? yung SYSTEM? Isa pa nag party sila nung okay na yung beep cards SANA YUNG PINANGPARTY NILA GINAMIT NALANG SA PAGDADAGDAG OR PAGPAPAAYOS NG MGA TRAIN PARA MARAMING MASAKYAN! Eto pa, ilang linggo (o buwan?) na ‘yang beep cards na 'yan pero nak ng shoteng naman papuntang SOUTH padin! Ang hassle sa part ng mga commuters pa NORTH. Pag papasok lang namin nagagamit yung beep card. Kelan niyo po balak i-upgrade yung system para sa panorth? Este mag balak pa po ba kayong i-upgrade yung system? IBA TALAGA EH! IBA! HANDS DOWN! Kahit ano pang ayos ng card entrance kung yung mga train naman eh sira o kulang wala rin. Umayos nga yung card entrance naging mas convenient ba? Siguro oo medyo pero kung ikocompare sa convenient na makukuha kung train ang inuna AY JUSKO GRABE!
Nostalgia Manila

When I was in my 1st and 2nd year college, naguuwian ako sa isang province south of Manila. Medyo may kalayuan pero kinaya naman. Isa ang LRT (LRT Line 1) sa means of transportation ko going to school and going home. Sa dalawang taon kong pagsakay dito araw-araw, wala man lang akong nakitang significant improvements kahit konti sa operation nila. Sa totoo lang or feeling ko lang ah, eh lalo pang worsen itong LRT 1 na ‘to.
Napakadami kong kasing naging experiences (na okay at hindi) sa pagsakay dito. .
. . at ito ang ilan:
Minsan or madalas or feeling ko nga lagi eh, na inaabot ako ng sobrang tagal bago makasakay ng train. Approx. 15-40 mins. Swerte na ung 5 to 10 mins. Worst eh inaabot pa nga ng 1 hour. Ang tagal kasi dumating nung train talaga at kung sunod sunod man, lagi namang akala mo eh isa kang sardinas na papasok sa lata sa sobrang siksikan. Ang laking oras kaya nun para masayang sa isang estudyanteng tulad ko. Imbis na nakakapagaral na ako or nasa bus na ako pauwi, ayun ako, nakatayo, palakad lakad na di mapakali at minsan nakaupo na sa platform sa tagal nang pagiintay. Dahil sa badtrip ko paminsan dito, nagt-try ako mag Fx, bus or jeep papuntang Buendia (Gil Puyat) pero katakot takot na traffic naman at pollution ang aking dapat malagpasan sa Taft. Kaya sa LRT pa rin ako umaasa kahit minsan tila wala nang dapat asahan.
Nung may event ung Iglesia ni Kristo nun sa Luneta-Grandstand. Tandang tanda ko ung date na un dahil sobrang malas ko lang nung araw na un, hindi lang sa pagsakay sa LRT. February 28, 2012 un. Mga 2 hours ako sa station bago ako nakasakay. Ang sama lang. :-/
Yung times na ang dami dami kong dala at nagmamadali ako, pabubuksan ang lahat ni manong guard para gawin niya ang pinakamalupit nilang “sundot inspection”. NAKAKABADTRIP. May iba namang maunawain o tinatamad lang siguro at hindi na nagiinspect.
Kapag siksikan tapos biglang sumasakto ung mukha sa kili kili ng kung sino man ang katabi. Aruuuuuuy -__-
Lagi ko rin inaabangan dito yung 3rd Gen. trains nila. Ung bago. Ung mas malamig at mas mahaba (kapag ito ang dumarating, marami ang pumupunta sa dulo kasi doon maluwag. Doon din ako sumasakay).
SKIP TRAIN = KASIYAHAN. Walang laman na train tapos makikipag unahan ka para makaupo. Ako hindi ako nakikipagunahan, minsan lang. :)
Pinakagusto ko talaga ung mga tagpong pagakyat ko ng station platform eh may maluwag na train tapos tila ba iniintay na lamang ang aking pagsakay bago umalis. The best yun!
Yung may pag-asa kang makaupo – heaven!
Natutuwa din ako sa mga free items na binibigay ng iba’t ibang companies to promote or advertise their product from chichiria, tiinapay, soda crackers, softdrinks at kung ano pang inumin hanggang sa mga toothpaste at sabon na panlaba.
KONTING TRIVIA AND TIPS!
LRT Line 1 was built year 1984-85. Time pa ni Marcos ‘to kaya pala deteriorated na. PERO KAHIT NA! Maintenance lang yan eh, okay na.
It runs above the Taft and Rizal avenues and the newly built portion in EDSA from Monumento to SM-North ave. covering the cities of Pasay, Manila, Caloocan and Quezon City. It consist of 18 + the additional 3 new stations, a total of 21. Hmmm.. factor din ‘to sa matagal na pagdating at siksikang mga train. Ang daming stations to cater and accomodate.
Eto observation ko lamang, maraming tao lagi na sumasakay at bumaba sa mga sumusunod na station: Baclaran, EDSA, Gil Puyat, Pedro Gil, United Nations Ave., Central, Carriedo, Doroteo Jose, Monumento. Pinakamalupit yung sa EDSA Station.
Mag-ingat sa mga kriminal at manyakis! Marami dito.
