I am so sorry for spamming your account at 3am. Like you posts and was scrolling. I really like your work and you seem to like big functions like the Kure Clan and Metsudo's business and his bodyguard lol. Wanted to know if you had any deep dives or headcanons for Purgatory as a system and if you don't mind maybe some fighter headcanons and Toyoda headcanons? Also sorry if this is a lot but what are your thoughts on Rolon too?
Hello!!☀️✌️ Yes, really like the Purgatory system it's right up my alley with my job! If I ever make an OC i would have them work inside of Purgatory system along side the fighters but not a fighter themselves.
I have a lot of headcanons for Purgatory as a system based off the knowledge as well as a visuals in Kengan Omega! I will also include canon knowledge as well! Purgatory is heavily Media, Advertisements, and Public Relations focused for it's inside world.
For my deep dive I will be using Bold is title / important thing as well as bullet points of my well points! Tumblr hates when I use Google Docs to type instead of on here it makes me format looks odd.
PURGATORY: SYSTEM & WORLDBUILDING HEADCANONS
(Fighter Headcanons are apart of this)
It’s not a fighting organization it’s a business empire
While Kengan matches are gladiatorial, Purgatory operates like a high-end luxury corporation:
private investors (illegal)
sponsorship deals (illegal)
brand partnerships
extremely curated public image (legal)
strict contracts that treat fighters like assets
The “arena” is more like a Las Vegas mega-resort crossed with a casino corporation.
In total there are 2,230 fighters alone with the arena floor seating 10,000 people all at once! If 10,000 people are just in the arena space along imagine how many people are in the vip lounges and other floors.
Fighters don’t choose Purgatory, Purgatory scouts or Toyoda personally choose them
They are recruited by Toyoda himself based on:
marketability
fighting style
visual appeal
nationality (diversity = more viewers)
personality that can be molded
If a fighter is too unpredictable, too independent, or too principled… they don’t get in.
Unless they bring ratings from the outside like Jose, Jurota, Carlos y Liu
For example, we have Jose Kenzaki who is a professional wrestler outside of Purgatory, he was scouted because of his already fighter persona and presence. He was bringing his wrestling rating with him inside to Purgatory
Jurota had a history of a well built reputation of winning national Judo competition with ease. So much ease that he was an easy fighter to bet on both outside of Purgatory as well as inside.
Liu may not have had tv presence or competition legacy but he has a reputation politicaly in the world of Marital Arts, Liu is good for drawing in international viewership and sponsorships for the Purgatory brand.
Carlos is also a well known media precense as well as a household name for international viewers and fans. With his sealed legacy and records breaking boxing career, seeing him change fighting styles was bound to bring in money and support both for himself as a fight and for the Purgatory brand.
Every fight has a “script,” but not in the WWE way
Not fake but guided and guilt tripped matches
Toyoda or a match producer will send the fighters:
“desired outcome”
“preferred narrative arc”
“emotional beats to sell”
"Undeniable revenge arc"
"Long lost relation"
"Wild Card"
Most of these "scripts" are often put together is pairs since it takes to fighters in one match.
Fighters can refuse, but it costs them ranking and screen time.
This is why someone like Fei, Lu Tian, and Nicolas can exist in Purgatory because they keep things “exciting.”
Desired outcomes and preferred narrative arcs are very common when their are new fighters who have just rised in ranking. Or when a fighter is a fan favorite
For example Carlos vs Gaolong where the audience not only cheered for Carlos but is was undeinable to team Purgatory that Carlos was going to win due to his known record of using rules to win matches instead of his strength
Another one I will say is Toa vs Julius, it was very obvious from the beginning that Julius would have won and taken that match as a victory for Kengan
Undeniable Revenge arc and Emotional Beats to sell is Nitoku vs Liu after the death Naiden Liu swore to get revenge for Naiden making it a public interruption to say so. However Nitoku is both a wild card as well as the emotional beat to sell. No one would have seen that Nitoku would use both powerful words outside of his fighting to influence Liu into telling go of said revenge.
Undeniable Revenge on it's own is Naidan vs Ryuki since Naidan wanted Ryuki is unlocked his killer instincts by revealing that he was apart of the worm
Long Lost Relation Tian vs Agito...which was outstanding.
The Purgatory Arena is a micro-city
It contains:
a world-class gym
a spa
a luxury rehab clinic (quietly used to cover up injuries)
“hospitality floors” for VIP guests
private suites for fighters, stylists, coaches
a secret underground level ONLY staff and elites can access
This is where Toyoda’s office is, and where major decisions are made.
We often saw Edward Wu (miss my fione stuff) in his own VIP hospitality suite with his own swimming pool that was longer than a professional football field ONTOP of the arena. Yes that floor and pool was on top of them fighter live.
There was a party going on with a live tv screen playing while sponsors and investors were networking, eating, and enjoying themselves.
Then their are training room, clinics, and lobbies for fighters. I also headcanon that there are hotel like floors for fighters as well.
Purgatory fighters have “media obligations”
Part of their contract includes:
photoshoots
brand appearances
press interviews
social media training
Some hate it (Liu Rolon and Jurota), some tolerate it (Carlos and Nicolas), and some thrive (Jose and Falcon).
These are not public for Instagram, Twitter, or TikTok but public for those who have paid the membership fee to be a part of the live fighters. So there is a fanbase but it is kept under hushed mouths.
People pay a lot just to even get a seat so it is trusted both by greed and other secreticy that these media appearances are kept under lock.
The scoreboard isn’t just about wins
It’s calculated by:
win/loss
audience engagement
social media trends
international sponsor reactions
“character arc” performance
These are divided into two: Fanbase vs Investor Pay
If a fighter tanks in Fanbase popularity, they get fewer matches regardless of martial skill. Such as fighters like B lister: Terashi he is an assassin but the viewers don't like him.
Koga was also a B lister however due to his fast fights and unlikeable attitude towards his opponent he stayed at B lister, should have been C lister.
Fighters who are not as skilled or strong but have strong media presence and loyal fan members are A Listers regardless of their win / lose scores
Falcon. Jose, and Kim Jang-Gi
The Three Demon Fist members: Fei, Liu, and Tian are automatically in there own divisions because they all three have a huge fanbase following, have the martial skills that are above other A listers and have investors with high pay in Japan as well as internationally
The Two Kings (S Tier): Rolon and Jurota are the two highest ranking fighters because first and foremost their marital skills, which then gain them a huge fanbase as well as investors with high pay. With the fans and investors they would still be S Tier
Five “internal factions” exist in Purgatory
Unofficial, but my headcanons:
The Showmen: fighters who perform for entertainment
Falcon, Nicolas and Jose
The Ghosts: fighters who never socialize
Terashi and Rolon
The Company Men: fighters loyal to Toyoda
A list fighters and Yumigahama for money
The Rebels: fighters who hate the system but stay for money or legacy
Carlos and Jurota
The Imports: fighters from other underground circuits
Liu, Tian. Toa, Naiden
PURGATORY FLOOR LORE EXPANSION
Each floor is like a “world theme,” but with its own philosophy, violence culture, and warrior archetypes. I did 5 floors because of the fighter levels. C list, B list, A list, Three Demon Fist, and then S tier which is The Two KINGS.
PUBLIC FLOORS “THE FACE OF PURGATORY”
These are the areas guests, sponsors, and VIPs can see.
Lobby Level “The Grand Area”
Architecturally ridiculous!! But other audience members of the area floors love walking into this room which they cannot stay in
Marble. Columns. Flowing light. Designed to make guests feel like they’re entering a sacred, ultra-rich performance hall.
Includes:
Massive digital sculpture displays showing past champions
High-end shops (designer brands, perfumes, jewelry)
Bars with uniformed attendants trained to never say no
Auction booths where rich guests can bid on fighter memorabilia
A miniature museum of Purgatory history (mostly propaganda and past posters)
Guests think the fighters roam here freely. They don’t. Only hand-selected fighters are allowed to appear during scheduled hours.
Hospitality District (“Golden Wing”)
An entire floor of:
rooftop restaurants
themed lounges
cigar rooms
private karaoke clubs for sponsors
small theaters for sponsor entertainment
Some lounges have “discrete observation rooms” meaning sponsors can watch fighters on hidden cameras while staff pretends it’s just ambiance lighting. This is where illegal bets are placed.
THE ARENA FLOORS THE ACTUAL BATTLESPACE
These floors include:
the main arena
warm-up rooms
walk-out tunnels
private post-match medical chambers
Recording booth for media and interviewers
professional makeup/styling rooms, because Purgatory is stagecraft
Everything is built to make the events look glamorous even the injuries. Spotlessly clean, it shines when the cameras or lights hit the floor and even the walls. It is also designed this way to keep the more intense and ill willed fighters at ease and tamed with nothing to trigger them.
FIGHTER FLOORS
These are not public. These are the real heart of the system, where Toyoda keeps fighters comfortable, distracted, prepared — and controlled.
Fighter Floor Breakdown
Personal Temporary Living Suites (Individual Rooms)
Each fighter gets:
a private suite
biometric locks
a king-sized bed
a kitchenette
a wet-room style luxury shower
BUT: Micro-cameras are embedded everywhere except the bathroom.
Fighters aren’t told that.
Recovery & Spa Wing
This section includes:
hot therapy pools
cold plunge pools
steam rooms
saunas
massage rooms
acupuncture and traditional medicine rooms
Fighters think this is luxury. In reality, half the staff here are informants reporting on injuries, mood, and behavior. This was put in place to detect worm members
Luxury Rehab Clinic
Canon appropriate VERY fancy, VERY private.
Includes:
private medical suites
superficial procedures (fixing scars, stitches, swelling, bruising)
internal medicine
bone-setting
“looks recovery” (they preserve fighters’ marketability)
Two Training Gyms
Purgatory has multiple specialized training spaces:
1. The Heavy Gym
Industrial weight racks
steel beams
reinforced flooring
free weights up to 300kg
sandbag zones
This is where the powerhouses like Toa and Yumigahama train
2. The Technique Dojo (based off my Martial Arts Studio)
Tatami mats. Mirrored walls. Traditional weapon racks for kata. Quiet. Meditative. Grappling mats
This is where the martial artists who value form + precision train like the Three Demon Fists Liu, Fei, and Tian
Toyoda’s Office
Luxurious, terrifying, soundproofed...
fighter contract copies
holographic performance charts
bottles of imported liquor
a private balcony overlooking the ocean
Another 800ft aquarium with live sea creatures (free them)
Built in luxury master bedroom
Gym with weights and a boxing tech punching bag
Built in kitchen supplies with American food (burgers, Cola, etc)
Visitors describe it as “beautiful and uncomfortable.” because this is kind of how I view Toyoda? I like him though oddly enough. I like that he is a character apart of Omega and is reaccuring.
TOYODA IDEMITSU HEADCANONS
He sees fighters as investments, not people
Every fighter is:
a potential profit source
a brand ambassador
a risk factor
a storyline character
He is polite, eloquent, even charming but isn't nice is just networking to see the value of who is in front of him. He is also obnoxious...
He studies psychology
Not academically but strategically through life and people.
He knows:
what triggers a fighter
how to manipulate motivation
how to build rivalries
which fighters will break and which will surpass expectations
He speaks gently while tightening invisible chains. This is why I headcanon that fights are not scripted but heavily influenced by Toyoda's desires to see second to investors and audiences.
At the end of the day it is always going to be "who does Toyoda want to see fight today" and "how does he want the fight to go" however he is also open ended and does not really care if it goes his way or not.
He never loses his temper
Ever.
Even when a match goes wrong, even when a fighter dies, even when the board complains.
He just smiles and says
“We will adjust.” "I see well thats how it ends then"
That’s far more frightening than yelling. I dont think he fires people either he just "let's them go".
He admires Lolong in a way that is almost… reverent
Not romantically.
He loves what Lolong represents:
the perfect fighter
obedient (by choice, not fear)
marketable
beautiful in motion
untouchably strong
Lolong is Purgatory’s ideal product.
He hates the Kengan Association not for moral reasons but for branding
Their “raw” fighting culture is bad PR. He sees them as outdated, barbaric, and unprofitable. How is it that Toyoda himself has more money than Metusdo, Nogi, and ALL of the Kengan Fighters and Members COMBINDED. Simple it is because he uses Media and Communications within his own brand.
The only reason Toyoda doesnt have a reality show is because well Purgatory is heavily illegal. And because he doesnt have a wife and family.
His relationships
Toyoda just can't seem to hold down a relationship simply because he can't. He doesn't want to be in a committed relationship were is the spark and thrill in that to him when we can chase someone new
I also headcanon that Toyoda similar to Jun Sekibayashi has experiemented with his sexuality a lot and is slowing down due to his age and because of Purgatory and Kengan now being one branch he has more in person meetings he has to attend.
Toyoda canonly builds mansions for all of his sugar babies to enjoy and live in, however these manisons are honestly for himself to enjoy. Yes he says they are for his sugar babies but all of them have things that he enjoys longtime after they have separated. He just likes to plan and build things honestly and a relationship seems like a good reason to do so for him.
Lastly but not least Lolong (Agitos first real friend post Kengan)
LOLONG - ROLON DONAIRE HEADCANONS (your request!)
He’s the only fighter Toyoda can’t control
Not because Rolon rebels.
Because Lolong simply does not care.
Money? Fame? Storyline? Status?
He accepts everything with quiet indifference.
He’s not loyal he’s present and assertive.
That terrifies Toyoda but also grants him some protection as well.
Lolong lives like a loner inside Purgatory
His room is clean, minimalist, no decor bed, weights, a single chair and a small set of religious items (he’s spiritual, but private about it)
He doesn’t drink, doesn’t party, doesn’t socialize. He exists in stillness. This is only during KvP he changes 360 after his lose to Ohma.
Other fighters respect him like a force of nature
They don’t speak to him unless he speaks first. Even Jurota gives him space.
When he walks, conversations pause. Not from both awe and caution
His strength isn’t physical, it’s presence
Rolon moves like someone trained in perfect discipline:
quiet steps straight spine controlled breathing eyes that see intention faster than movement His entire martial arts philosophy is about:
Winning the fight before it begins.
This is why I love Agito and Lolong's friendship. They both were very similar outlooks on fighting, training, and life took different paths while they both were in the fighting systems. Lolong being ex military and Agito being The Fang of Metsudo and a victim of Evil Tiger Nike.
Then post fighting systems once they both faced defeat they became their own persons and did a personality 360.
He finds the Kengan Association… refreshing
Their honesty. Their lack of pretension. Their freedom.
While is Purgatory:
His voice is gentle and even. But he can cut through a conversation with a single sentence. He lifts no more than necessary, speaks no more than needed, and fights no more than required. He wastes no words and would rather listen than speak.
But in the end Lolong is the one with the final word. Not Toyoda and not even his fellow King Jurota.
After Purgatory:
Lolong is very interactive. He goes out with Agito, offers training and a meal to other fighters who reach out to him. And will always expect an invition that includes fighting and / or a match.
He has been in two other fighting tournaments since KvP because he wanted to join for fun. As well as accepting a team up with Agito and Gensai to fight Wulong and The Worm.
He smiles in almost every panel he talks in, even while in a fighting stance.
If he ever fell for someone, it would be… slow and frightening
Not to him. To everyone else.
Because Lolong’s attention is the kind of thing that changes atmospheres. When he focuses on someone, he focuses completely. His ears are more open and attentive then his eyes.
He listens. He notices. He remembers.
And for a man who gives nothing to anyone that is enormous.
Lolong is a very nice mix of Agito and Omega Ohma in my opinion! I think he's great and amazing to read when his matches come up. If I had to pick my top 5 fighters I would root for to win a fight he would be in my top 5 for sure! I think he will go off in this arc as well, I even think they will have Rolon and Agito team up to fight together and then probably Rolon will have a rematch with someone.

Ok now I want to do something for Lolong / Rolon like his own post. As you've probably already noticed, I am bias towards Kengan Omega outside of Ryuki I just dont like him but I have made a Ryuki oneshot?
