16. a HAPPY KISS with @lucybethbarton.
When it came to Natalie the little things always, without fail, meant more than any one big gesture. She just didn’t need much in life. Toss her a smile, give a little wave, or recommend a song that made you think of her and she was set for at least another week. That’s why a mile wide grin split her face when Lucy strolled into the mostly empty bar that afternoon, bag from Big Burger in hand. “You don’t even know how much I appreciate this,” Nat cooed while she skipped over to the tiny partition at the other end. “I haven’t eaten since breakfast and now the other bartender called in. My afternoon pick up shift just turned into a double and—” one big whiff later her knees began to weaken— “Is that artificial cheese and bacon I smell?!” Yep. She’d know the scent of their loaded cheese fries anywhere, and it seemed like Lucy had opted for the splurge. Just like that she leaned over and popped a delighted kiss to her cheek. “You’re the best,” Natalie declared, already digging out a loose fry. “I swear to God I’m keepin’ you forever.”
