I'm kinda obsessed with the idea of Naomi × Gin, I wish there was more content about them. I really like the aesthetic, in my mind they fit this very specific kind of student council member × sukeban trope, but for both the “real” them is so much different than the image they present of themselves. Physically they could look like twins, except they take such opposite, specific&deliberate stylistic choices that they end up looking antithetical to each other. They both share a very complex borderline-toxic relationship with their older brothers. I feel like when interacting with each other they'd both show this very constructed very false persona, and they both know the other is lying and they both know the other knows. They're attracted to each other despite that and are compelled to spend more time together. They're precisely alike not at all in the persona they built but in the very act and sole intensity of lying. Do you see my vision

“Naomi,” Fukuzawa says severely. “Do you understand what you’re telling me?” Naomi stares at him, straightening, and she knows without saying what he’s really asking. “Yes.” He sighs. She almost wants to apologize, but she bites her tongue at the last second; she does know what she’s doing, after all. It’s possibly one of her worst decisions, but if it gives her a chance to protect everyone else – to protect Junichirou – then it’s the best one she’s ever made.

(After the end of the war, Naomi volunteers herself to go to the Port Mafia. She expects to hate it. She doesn't expect Gin.)

Naomi Tanizaki is fifteen years old when she follows her brother into his.

It is hard to get to know them personally.

Of course--

The shock that the Mafia's rabid dog has something as human as a sister renders Gin forgettable.

The disgust with her relations with the Agency's illusionist renders Naomi undesirable.

Gin Akutagawa's brothers reputation precedes her own. People fear this kind of man that has this girl under his protection.

Naomi Tanizaki's brother has newly made a name for himself with his capabilities for assassination. People fear this kind of man that has this girl under his protection.

The Port Mafia's skilled Assassin is known as "Gin". Never "Akutagawa".

The Armed Detective Agency's smart Secretary is known as "Naomi". Never "Tanizaki".

The right to their family names belongs to the men of the family.

Doomed to follow, doomed to be forgotten, doomed to be looked at with disgust.

Doomed to be an accessory to their brothers.

What of Gin? What of Naomi? Plain and simple-- girls without definition bestowed upon them by a man.

“Thank you,” Naomi tells them one night. They live in silence, occasionally signing, very rarely talking, but the words spill out regardless, breaking their routine with their existence alone. “Thank you for looking out for me.” Gin turns back to look at her, staring so deeply into her eyes that it’s as if they can see her very soul. “I promised.” Their voice is barely a whisper, broken and quiet. Nonetheless, it feels like an unknown treasure. It’s something they have chosen to gift to Naomi, something for her to clutch close to her chest as a reminder of the bridge of trust that now stretches between them.

Naomi joins the Port Mafia so that no one else has to. With Gin at her side, it's not even close to as bad as she expected it to be.

Even she, however, doesn't believe the two of them can last.
