It's a Libertines' Thing
Just because an author finds a certain ship or ships more entertaining to write about DOES NOT MEAN THEY HATE AN ENTIRE GENDER OR COMMUNITY 🤦
and yet john was prowling around the village amongst a bunch of coppers like this:
his sabrina carpenter qt was also an anti ice tweet why would u doubt him 🤔
doubting dream is like doubting that thered be sand in the sahara desert
So i went to see Avatar Fire and Ash, high, and on 3D and even THIS level of brain dead could not distract me from the writing sin of having Jake losing faith in Eywa
And i get what Cameron was trying to do; to draw a theme of how many parents lose their religious faith after experiencing the death of a child, and this is Jake’s human side showing,,, but that doesn’t read as well in this specific story, given that Jake’s God is not an intangible concept but the very LITERAL reason he still breathes. Eywa is scientifically proven to be real to some capacity , which is something you can’t say about any other human-made deity.
The first movie masterfully builds to the catalyst of Jake “seeing” the world for the first time, as it was, as it is, and as it could be, all at once. From the minute he connects his kuru to the tree, he understands that Eywa is not just a concept, but the very manifestations of Pandora, as a living organism, sustaining other living organisms within it: A Mother. She is real, and She is alive, and capable of intervening to change the trajectory of her world.
To have Neytiri’s faith challenged— that I would find infinitely more fascinating. It’s her eyes that are being open to other aspects of her world now for the first time; she’s witnessing first hand the cruelty of other creatures that Eywa has willfully allowed to step foot on Pandora and bring reckoning. Her firstborn child is dead. I would understand her being like “Great Mother, what the fuck if the plan here? What does my suffering amount to?”
But JAKE? Jake who was reborn through Eywa, once metaphorically and once literally. Jake who then, in the same movie, gives a lecture to Quarich about opening his third eye or whatever. That Jake, questioning wether Eywa can provide— BROTHER LOOK AROUND YOU, THE PLANTS SING.
the most confusing part of twin peaks: the return is how apparently no one has written ANY fics where chantal, hutch, and mr. c have a serial killer threesome
" Man, this apocalypse is some heavy shit. "
