I really need a low stakes modern au in which instead of a trial of seven with death and gore, the whole Ashford thing is about Baelor, perfect candidate to be mayor of the city, having to handle the fact that his chaotic nephew got arrested because he got into a fight while buying drugs. It was, I cannot highlight it enough, entirely Aerion's fault. Maekar wants to spin the story to blame Dunk, which stands to lose much more. Aerion is........ resentful against him.......... and he doesn't like the fact that his little brother clearly worships the ground Duncan steps on............... yeah that's definitely what Aerion is feeling about the huge, beefy guy who started being a firefighter like. canon compliant post ashford dunkaerion from maekar's pov is so funny because imagine that your son calls for a trial that hasn't been used in so long that you don't even know what it is but regardless disapprove of, and that trial ends with you accidentally killing your brother and then suddenly your son announces that he's getting married to the guy who he called the trial for in the first place. dunkaerion living their little toxic romcom while maekar is in a psychological horror

this episode was beautiful and happy and sunshiny, so im here to bring in the angst by pointing out that in this episode shane, in addition to having ilya, had a check in text from rose, had a check in call from hayden, had the love and support of his parents, and was in the one place in the world where he felt the safest and most comfortable. and ilya, who flew to shane and travelled to some isolated place that he was completely out of his element in, who made the massive decision of leaving boston and moving to ottawa, who went from occasional clandestine hookups with men to coming out as bi to strangers and calling himself their son's boyfriend - ilya who made all these massive scary leaps, who did he have? he had shane. and just shane.
