Unlike previous training sessions, the ghostly ether did not fade once the hero mastered the skill. This time, the shade simply took a seat on the foggy ground, perhaps to reflect. Though their overall appearance was rather intimidating, the way in which they rested seemed to contradict that.
The shade removed their helmet as the wind blew over their ghostly body. Underneath the helmet, they revealed a full mane of wavy golden blonde hair, almost shining through the fog. On the inside, they wished they could change their more skeletal appearance to that of a more human form, wanting to truly embrace their successor as they would their own child. The shade could not yet will themselves to do so, for they knew the hero’s burden was too great. Link would surely be overwhelmed by the knowledge that this skeletal warrior was their predecessor, the Hero that Time Forgot. So the shade remained still, only a sigh echoing in the strange realm.
“Indeed- I was a Hylian, once,” they revealed, their voice more gentle than it had been during the training sessions. “I was taken from the world of the living far sooner than I wished, for I could not fight against the cruel hands of death.” The shade’s voice trembled as they spoke, letting their regret show through.
“Thus here I still remain... my wisdom, my memories... they are all I have left.”
