Today's June 4 task for #jcfjune is to share a #bookcrown. I could only think of ONE book that has a crown on its cover, but I own it, so here it is! It's The Cruel Prince by Holly Black! 😍❤😍 . . . . With it I have the FOUR books I read today (plus Sleepy Max). The three on the left of Max's nose were all started today and finished today (*681 pages total*). The one to the right of Max's nose is the one I am going to start soon after posting this post. (I won't be able to finish this book today.) 😍❤ . . . . What are these books? 🤔 . . . 1. Etiquette & Espionage by Gail Carriger, 4⭐. 2. Coraline by Neil Gaiman, 4⭐. 3. Lustlocked by Matt Wallace, 5⭐. 4. The Aeronaut's Windlass by Jim Butcher. . If you scroll to see the second picture, you'll see that I also have all four of these books in my Audible app. I listened to E&E at 2x speed and C and L at 3x speed. (Rereads I can listen to FAST so long as I read along. New-to-me books have to be listened to at 2x speed while I read along or I get completely lost.) ❤ . . . . The Aeronaut's Windlass is a book I will listen to at 3x speed (it's a reread), so I will hope to finish this +21-hour audiobook tomorrow morning. It's 9:40p now. I think I liked this novella a bit more than the first one - probably because the world's been introduced, all the characters have settled in (more or less) and it's easier to focus on the plot, which is so hilariously ridiculous it broke my poker face while I was at work (which is not very easy to do, as I have an excellent poker face when reading). This also has the advantage of not being as...gross as the first novella, though of course my standards for grossness are very different from everyone else's, so this may still gross some readers out.
But the best part about this is the celebrity guessing game. Wallace never mentions names outright, but a halfway-decent grasp of pop culture should let the reader figure out who's who in this book - and believe me, it is a FUN exercise ;).
Contains one sex scene that, for my money, is par for the course for the average romance novel, so it shouldn't bother anyone too much. I'm mentioning it for the readers who might be bothered by it.
And finally: Boosha is probably my favorite not-so-human urban fantasy grandmother so far :D.

I am reading a new weird book!
It’s called “Lustlocked” by Matt Wallace. It’s an “outrageous follow-up to Envy of Angels“, but since I didn’t read that book I am a bit lost, but it’s so weird, I am reading it. It is a first edition, just published January 2016. It’s not like anything else I have ever read. Did I say it was weird? It is from the “Sin du Jour Series”, whatever that is.

Processing that for which you have no frame of reference is always the most difficult thing for the human mind to do.
