With the last cube of ice in place, Enid plopped down and released a sigh that puffed out in front of her from how cold it was.
Good job, Enid. Shift back and I’ll finish the rest. Geno told her, and she was more than happy to do so. As soon as the shift was through, Geno stood onto his two feet and walked over to pull on his clothes. Being exposed to the cold even for a few minutes was enough to have him shivering.
Hurry, our mate is already on his way. Enid warned Geno, who slipped into the opening of the ice building Enid worked hard assembling. She did the heavy work of pulling out the ice Geno had cut from the lake. Now, it was Geno’s turn to make sure it was all fixed up properly for him and the King of Lycans.
Inside of the igloo, Geno was safe from the icy wind that blew past. He patched up any holes before bringing in the campware he had brought from the castle. He wanted this to be a surprise for Reaper, but he knew he was running out of time. Reaper was fast, especially if he shifted into his wolf form to get here. He knew Reaper would be upset that he ran off again without anyone with him, but this had to be done by him– and with no one else here to ruin the surprise; like Makaria.
Geno tried to be quick. He laid out the sleeping bags and extra pillows, a bag of snacks set aside for when Reaper finally arrived–
A shadow filled the only opening to the igloo and a growl filled the small space, making Geno’s heart skip a beat and race. He turned around, falling on his bottom onto the sleeping bags and stared in surprise at his mate’s wolf; Death. The black wolf’s red eyes stared down at him, ready to lecture him of how dangerous it was to go out alone.
“Wait! Before you get angry with me!” Geno raised his hands up in defense, trying to calm the wolf down. “Uh, um. S-Surprise?” He said with a nervous smile, but Death didn’t move, nor did he look away from Geno.
You made an igloo.. For? He heard Reaper mindlink him and Geno swallowed hard; Reaper didn’t sound too excited for his surprise and it was making Geno nervous. “For.. For us. Enid and I thought it was a good idea.” He said, his voice quiet and now unsure.
Death finally looked away from Geno to inspect the small ice building, before huffing. It was… A bit too small for the large black wolf. Enid could only reach so far when building it. The fact that she was even able to do all of this was pretty amazing. Death stepped in as far as he could go before he shifted.
A nude Reaper remained in Death’s place, on his hands and knees and Geno’s face blossomed with a pretty blush that had Reaper gushing about how adorable he was. No longer upset, Reaper crawled further in and on top of his sweet mate. “You made this for us~? Oh, my sweet mate loves me so~!” He sang and nuzzled into Geno happily.
“H-Hey! Wait! You- You’re naked!” He shrieked, but Reaper ignored him, still nuzzling into him, scenting him.
Once Reaper was finished, he had slipped into one of the sleeping bags to stay warm; even though the igloo kept the wind from coming through, it was still cold and he was still very much naked. Geno laid beside him, cuddling up with him.
“So, what was the purpose of this igloo?” Reaper asked and Geno blushed again. “After we train and explore, or whatever… We have a little shelter to rest in for a bit. Enid and I thought it was a good idea…” He quietly, embarrassed. Reaper moved a bit to press a kiss to the top of Geno’s head.
“You’re so thoughtful~ Thank you, my love. But, how did you manage to build it so quickly?” He asked and Geno smiled proudly. “I cut the ice and Enid pulled the ice blocks! She did most of the building.” Reaper’s smile mirrored Geno’s; Geno felt his wolf jump around with excitement and joy. “You both did a wonderful job, thank you.” Reaper said sweetly, softly before pulling Geno into a sweet kiss.
After a while, it started to get too cold for Reaper. He left the igloo to shift back; Death stood tall while Geno exited with all of the things he brought. They shared the snacks, giving them the energy to head back to the castle. As much as Geno and Enid wanted to run with their soulmate, Geno had too much to carry; Enid would also have trouble. So, they walked back to the castle.
As always, Thanatos and Makaria were fretting over them, and Geno huffed. “I was fine! I was just, uh. Training with Enid.” He said with a blush. Death barked out a laugh and gave Geno an amused look. “I-I’ll go put these up!” Geno said quickly and ran off, Makaria following close behind, demanding answers and asking questions of her own.
The large black wolf shifted and Reaper stood tall at Thanatos’ side, who handed the king his clothing. “So, what was he really doing?” Thanatos asked and Reaper chuckled. “He had a surprise waiting for me.” Was all the King said, and once he was done dressing, he walked away. Thanatos wasn’t happy with that answer and hurried after his king to demand more answers.
