I'm getting this out of the way so it hopefully doesn't turn into another multibullet rant: this is my least favorite part of any narrative, where everybody is making shitty choices bc they're working with incomplete information and literally don't know enough to know what they don't know. getting the information is the point, learning which of their gut instincts to trust is the point, and yes even them making shitty choices and dealing with the fallout from said choices is the point. it's just frustrating for me personally in any story, and I'm trying REALLY HARD not to let it color my enjoyment of the show because I know it's a Me Problem.

beau and dairon have both have "this is the information I have and therefore it is the only correct information, fuck you and the fuck you fucked in on" (which is apparently triggering to me in a way I did not anticipate, but I digress), but they each have different knowledge. both can't be true, and beau is caught between Must Prove Self to Cool Authority Figure and Fuck All Authority Figures (No Matter How Cool)

I've also been trying to figure out a rough timeline of how long it takes them to travel between places and I think they might be folding space

god I wish this had more than eight episodes. it's technically more runtime than the 12-episode seasons of LOVM but eight episodes is simply not enough time for the kind of story they're trying to tell & the way they're trying to tell it. I'm not saying they have to include every single element of the game (that's actually one of lovm's weaker points imo) but some of these plot points need a minute to breathe, y'know?

the point is I wish they'd taken two minutes to address the fact that caleb just told them how badly he suffered at the solstryce academy and they proceeded to immediately take him within spitting distance of the solstryce academy.

I have ONE complaint about caleb's design and it's just that his stubble looks painted on? I know it literally is but a texture or gradient or something would make it perfect

I don't know if San adjusted how he does Nott's voice or if it just sounds different on studio mic. both are equally likely.

I also got used to seeing Nott depicted as this angular, scraggly design so how Round she looked in the promos threw me off, but it works better in practice (I figured it would)
