Practiced doodling Macabra bodies.

A spread I made to test out my Macabra color schemes. Their skin are usually super toned colors, with Profe and Ulta being exceptions for different reasons. 

Short profiles on all:

Ulta: Kidnapped from a young age from the South, she was taken North where she was trained to become the Fairy Princess’s guard.

Alsar: The prince of the Darkling country (still gotta come up with a name for it oof). He’s his mother’s political pawn, but is working behind the scenes to take back power. He dearly loves his younger cousin Dulce.

Dulce: The heavily sheltered Darkling princess. She is beloved by Gana and Alsar, who hide all the ugly reality that is taking place in the world. She spends her days having parties with other nobles and fretting over the next trends.

Beso: Gana’s loyal knight. He fell in love with her and helped her gain the power she has now. He knows he has committed several wrongs, but he’s a smitten fool who can’t stop protecting Gana.

Gana: The queen of the Darkling country. She keeps her son from his rightful title in order to continue playing her revenge against Lightners. She cares not for her country’s well-being or for the many lost in her petty wars. 

Girasi: Dulce’s attendant and closest friend. She’s been heralded as the most beautiful Darkling of their time, a title she loves to boast about. Frivolous and gossipy, she was made for the noble life, but her loyalty to Dulce is surprisingly strong.

Cheve: Alsar’s man behind the scenes and closest companion. He wears the facades of a flighty playboy to the public and of Gana’s spy on Alsar’s personal affairs. He was picked up at a young age from the streets to be Alsar’s manufactured ‘best friend.’ He was ready to be Gana’s puppet, but changed alliances after falling in love with Alsar. He controls a spy network to keep Alsar well informed on official matters. 

Profe: A prophet born with a rare skin mutation that allows them to go out in the sun. Their miraculous birth was heard all the way to the religious leader (must make up a religion now oof), and they were immediately taken from their parents to become their pawn. They were sheltered by the outside world and thoroughly brainwashed to serve their beliefs until they met prince Alsar by chance. Inspired by his sincerity and outside knowledge, they pledged to serve his purpose and now follow his cause to better the country.

Dolor: A farmer-turned-revolutionary figure. She was just another hardworking farmer when her town was taken over by the military and drained of its supplies. Having had enough, she led a revolution to take back her town, sparking other copycats to do the same. She became the face of the turning tides, and was picked up by Cheve’s spies to meet Alsar. She was given a knighting, and has pledged her alliance to Alsar’s cause.

I thought I posted these a long time ago??? These are the first draft headshots of different types of Macabras. Macabras are designed with generally any hooved and horned animal's skull. Most of these babies ended up being legit characters lol. The only ones whom I havent made a place for are the top two actually. Ive also changes most of their face lines by now too to make them more intricate.

1A. Ulta sketches. Macabras are a type of Darkling, beings who get hurt by light, and unfortunately for her, she was kidnapped as a kid and taken in by a Fairy King in the Land of Light. Life was hell for her; she was trapped in a single light-proof room for a year before being forced out by the Queen to shaoe her into a guard for the princess. Her body was mutated because of so much exposure to the light, maming her smaller than others of her species, and, as these early sketches show, I planned on giving her a shorter snout as well. Not too sure on that anymore.... She should also have a broken horn in her childhood, ooof.

1B. Hahahahahhahahaaa so i never mentioned much the other people my Macabras interact with but uh. There's an elf prince that may or may not have fallen in love with Ulta while they were on the run to save the Fairy Princess's mother. Dbdhdhdhdj i hate his pose so much his neck is not supposed to be like that omf and his design, i need to give him something cooler???

More monsters lol

The song Leon by Alt-J was stuck in my head, and I doodled this face randomly to it XD I love it tho,it's a cute face!

Started drawing my Macabra, Ulta. She's so neat to mess with for facial expressions. All sharp edges.

A comparison between how I draw Ulta's head by memory compared to how it's drawn with ref. Without ref shes a sharp gal. Cutie.

This is the cow skull reference pic lol. They are surprisingly round?? I prefer the face without reference XD

The song Crossing the Line from Tangled: The Series is GREAT for a scene in my head with Ulta as Cassandra.

Darklings: The War

This story has a lot of lore, and I’ll most likely make a story outline for it in my writing tumblr, noodlenibblescribble.

Below the cut is the poem:

Darklings

In a land ruled by darkness and light,

IT’s easy to get lost in the sun.

But the most important history of all

Occurred where the Darklings run.

 A war was afoot, the biggest in sight.

Both civil and foreign in nature.

With three fractured cousins, an era would fall

Bring an end to the past legislature

 Ulta, the Survivor, who suffered the most

Kidnapped and enslaved in the kingdom of light

Now leads the rebellion to take back what’s hers

The throne, her home, and her people’s rights.

 Dulce, the Mediator, who sees what’s become

How the end would be grim conditions

She fled her life of happiness and lies

To reign in and stop oppositions

 And lastly, the Victim, forlorn Alsar,

A tool for his mother’s ire.

Abused and neglected, his needs rejected

Stole an army and took the empire

 And off they go, to the rage of war,

Each marked with a purpose to fill.

The warrior, the fool, and the beaten mess.

All will come to one big standstill.
