In fact, females have been known to participate in lesbian activities when they are lactating (and possibly even during pregnancy), indicating an easy compatibility between motherhood and homosexuality in this species.

Stumpie Macaque and Tamarin SWK... What are they looking at?

Original reference:
With the recent redesign on Macaque, I decided to update the Lego-style art of my headcanons ^_^. I also fixed up some things on Monkey king's art, like the mane and added the Capoeira cord.

Mk talking to Macaque: I'm just not sure anymore.. What am I!?
Macaque, sensing MK's going to spiral, will stop it in ridiculous ways:
I gave birth to you.
Does that answer your question?
Mk: 😦 ...N-no, you're lying.
Macaque: It's true. This was your favorite boob. You were a big fat baby. You liked to launch yourself to my face and bite my nose and-
Mk, already knew but doesn't want to accept it: Ok, shut up, just shut up!
Macaque: Ok... (mumbling) but next time you wonder why your fur is dark brown and your face marking is freckled... that's because you're a stump-tail like me.
🧍 (Silence.)🧍
Mk: (Looking info on the internet) Am I... going to get a receding hairline when I'm older? And my markings... redder?
Macaque, has a satisfied smug smile, crisis averted: Uh, yeah, probably!
🐵 Lego Monkie Kid Species Headcanons / Fancharacters
(Edit: I have updated their designs a bit, so I added the new designs here up top and the older pics at the end of the post!).
⭐️ Hello again ya'll. It's been so long since I post art. I've been in a big slump, well, until... I watched Lego Monkie Kid and now the monkeys are rotating in my head. Wow, it's been so long since I watched a show that feels satisfying??? LMK did not have to be so good and it was. So... Here are my headcanons/fancharacters for Sun Wukong and Six-Eared Macaque:
🐵☀️ I chose the Golden Lion Tamarin or Golden Marmoset for Sun Wukong.
These monkeys are native to Brazil, live in small family groups and they are omnivores. If I didn't stress it enough in the art, they are endangered, I encourage that you learn about them besides fandom related things. They're just the cutest little guys! They're bright orange all around and have long tails. They are VERY small (a dwarf monkey afterall!) the size of a squirrel 🐿, so now Wukong is a short king, ok. I was happy to see others thought of the same species hc as me, we are on the same page heh.
I wanted to change his clothes a little bit so they'd go well with the bright colors and also just maintain that Wukong's an adult. I generally like drawing him with a bit of facial hair on the chin. Thanks to a fellow artist friend of mine (and a webtoon comic artist: Stellar Riptide) I got used to how to draw the monkey snouts better. I like the Lego style and all, but still, I'm not afraid to furry it up!
🐵🌒 Finding a species for Macaque was a fun little research trip, but here is my pick: Stump-Tailed Macaque.
Macaques live in large groups called troops, and they are generally um a little aggressive to eachother and they have social heriarchies. Fortunately the one with most resemblance to Mac, was a more passive Macaque who are mostly herbivores.
Stump Tailed Macaques live in many south and southeast asian countries, and as the name suggests they have the tiniest tails.
Stumpies have this changing of coloration that I thought would be perfect for Six Eared Macaque because of his association with the moon AND for storytelling purposes. As a baby, they have white fur. When they start to grow up, their fur darkens to brown, and their face turns bright pink or red. Finally as full adults their fur turns dark brown, their red face markings change- some darkens to completely black and some stay bright red, making a beautiful contrast. What that means is, I can play around with the shape of his markings through his life... Maybe a burning heart❤️🔥, a broken heart💔, and butterfly shape🦋?
🐒 I know that the Monkey trio are very expressive with their tails, but I took the liberty to make Mr.Macaque "tailless" because of the face markings and because of his avatar being tailless...
I looked at concept art and revisited the bits I liked: The ears, the earrings, the white hairs... the outfit having one sleeve. I thought it'd be fitting for the kind of characterization I want to use for him.

Macaque but he's a stump-tailed macaque this time in the Lego style. I've connected the dots.
