Enjoy the ultimate comfort food with this triple cheddar mac and cheese that is cooked slowly and is rich and creamy. As long as it's perfectly cheesy and tasty, everyone will love it, even picky eaters.
Ingredients: 1 lb elbow macaroni. 4 cups shredded cheddar cheese divided into 3 cups, 1 cup, and extra for topping. 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese. 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese. 4 cups milk. 1/2 cup unsalted butter. 1/2 cup all-purpose flour. 1 teaspoon garlic powder. 1 teaspoon onion powder. Salt and pepper to taste.
Instructions: Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk continuously for about 2 minutes to make a roux. Gradually pour in the milk while whisking constantly to avoid lumps. Cook until the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in 3 cups of shredded cheddar cheese, Parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until the cheese melts and the sauce is smooth. Place the cooked macaroni in a slow cooker and pour the cheese sauce over it. Stir to combine thoroughly. Top the macaroni and cheese with the remaining 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese. Cover and cook on low heat for 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally, until the cheese is bubbly and the flavors are well blended. Serve hot, garnished with extra shredded cheddar cheese if desired.
