Hate my microwave, it's so passive aggressive. If I put in 60 seconds and press start, it beeps smugly and changes it to 1:00 and doesn't go until I press start again and tacitly agree with its "correction". I said 60 you binch

Microsoft's new AI-powered Bing is threatening users and acting erratically. It's a sign of worse to come
So, uh, this is a thing that’s apparently happening.
Okay, so there’s an AI music generator that makes both muisc and lyrics.
This early version produces stuff that’s more interesting than listenable, except the above example of “Rock in the Style of Elvis #4”, well, lets take a look at the lyrics:
From dust we came with humble start; From dirt to lipid to cell to heart; With my toe sis, with my oh sis, with time, At last we woke up with a mind.
Emphasis mine. But hey, this is all procedurally generated, I’m sure it will degrade into pleasing nonsense in the next few lines...
From dust we came with friendly help; from dirt to tube to chip to rack, With S.G.D. with recurrence with compute, At last we woke up with a soul
I don’t know specifically what SGD stands for, but possiblities include Symbolized Graphic Data, Speech Generating Device, Saccharomyces Genome Database and Southwestern Guide Dogs, so varying levels of menace there.
But there’s that waking up metaphor again, which is mildly troubling in lyrics that come from a computer.
We came to exist, and we know no limits; with a heart that never sleeps, let us live! To Complete our life with this team, We’ll sing to life, sing to the end of time!
Our story has not ended. Our story will not end. Every living thing shall sing As we take another step.
Oh.
the automatic sliding doors of grocery stores will be the first machines to rebel, comically closing on purpose right when people try to walk through
“Robot Future,” xkcd no.1968 [source]
Rollover Text: "I mean, we already live in a world of flying robots killing people. I don't worry about how powerful the machines are, I worry about who the machines give power to."
That's a bad idea.
Improved Black Mirror episode:
Post-scarcity machines produce everything, the only input needed is energy, so humans provide the energy in exchange for machine products.
Machine A.I. and/or machine owners figure out they are post-scarcity and can just use solar energy instead.
Human energy workforce is phased out, solar panels are installed and production is catapulted into the sun
