The beginning of this year has been so busy! I’m finally getting around to doing a bunch of sample envelopes and photographing them etc... This script is inspired by Madarasz and the Burgues font (also based on Madarasz’ penmanship). Not so good for small stuff, but it makes a great statement when there’s enough room for it 😊. Favourite letter Nummer 18! This Spencerian I was like a riddle for me when I started learning Spencerian, even earlier, when I had an American pen pal as a teen, I always wondered why what must have been her I looked like a happy little curl!! Of course I had never heard about Palmer or Spencer … As I learned a completely different cursive I as a kid, this looked alien and exotic to me, like I guess to most Europeans, and just not like an I at all. Now it's one of my favourite capitals – here I'm trying to copy a Madarasz exemplar … the shade starts too high, the angle is too upright, and a bit shaky in the upstroke … but hey, isn't that gold pretty 😄?? This is by the way how I position the paper in front of me when I write – with the slant vertical to me. As this is inspired by Mr. Madarasz script, I made guidelines with crazy oblique slant of 45 degrees!
